1/15/2018 0 Comments Ser Mathius' letter to scarletby ser mathius (Jeremy) | REad Sualiwag's RECAPDear Scarlet, It’s me, Marthius. As I promised, I would send a letter on the night of my arrival in the lands of Summer-port. Perhaps I was a-tad stretching when I told you the waters would be warm, and the sun in plenty; however, I think that I can do real good hear. I understand, I am just an old knight, wrecked in my main-hand, and using my left as if it were dominant; and true, perhaps the line of work is designed and built for a younger generation that does not carry the wounds of so many years of battle. Yet, when I arrived in this damned city of chill and death, I felt alive. Alive, and strong, and like something that I had been missing for so many years has been returned to me. My youth, my liveliness, my energy, all flowing back moments after stepping onto the urban decayed landscape of Summer-port. And true enough, I was needed! You have so much worry that they would shrug off an old knights aid. The opposite had occurred in-fact: entering into the local saloon, one “Thieves’ Tankard” Sualiwag and I were able to lend some help in clearing out several buildings of the savage beast they resided in them, getting furs and boots from the leathers of the local beasts as compensation. Without them, I very much doubt that dear ol’ Sualiwag would be without his feet, and rather with frostbitten stumps. Sure he might complain of the discomfort of clunky old shoes; but I think surely he is getting use to them. In-fact, I saw him forgetting to take them off that night you should have seen the look on his face when he awoke to find them still there, as bright as a tomato! But, as noted, we were certainly needed, and welcomed into the community. There seems to be fifty odd members of the urban ruble- amongst them a band of rather trained adventurers. So much like myself from my youth- I only hope to catch up to there skill with this blasted left hand. Amongst them were elves, half elves, and a lizard-folk of especial interest: Salazar- bannered in black scales, and a-few members of what I could only assume to be a cult known only as “Gaia.”

by merelda meznen (vera d.) 7-16 springfellTL;DR: The Shield make good on their weapons' deal with the Greatscale and discover Atuji obeys Midden Heap's bidding but will align with Shield if we can defeat her. The party learns there could be another lizardfolk clan older than the known ones that can assist but they are northwest. Before returning back to a point of light, Midden Heap's minions deal a near TPK and Chief Udo dies until Merelda prays to Luthic to intervene and bring him back. He lives. Merelda's Prayer to Luthic Oh Cave Mother Luthic: Thank you for hearing my prayers and bringing back my beloved leader, Chief Udo. As you know, I greatly admire his valor and leadership. No hero should fall to a mound of shambling vines and twigs. I will forever be faithful for the miracle you have blessed us with. I have so much to be thankful for, things unseen and seen. Your mighty power is at work in me, transforming me, renewing my mind. To You Luthic, I belong. I promise to protect Udo as you instructed me to as you breathed life back into his lifeless corpse. With your blessing, he returned from the darkness of death. Though his shimmer has dulled, I will see to it that his strength and courage shines greater than ever. Amen. Oh, P.S., please bless Chief Atuji. He is an honorable lizardfolk and I do believe he will uphold his promise to align with us when we defeat Midden Heap. I am disappointed that he will not openly rebel against the hag, but I cannot wait for the day we can break bread together again and not hide our friendship. Thank you, Great Mother Luthic. 1/8/2018 0 Comments First taste of Adventureby Naill Amakiir (Jason M.) 8 Summer RiseSee Tharrus's Recap
“There must have been ten of them at least! They just kept coming! We’d cut ‘em down and they just get back up. Never seen anything like it in my life. And the one guy… waaay bigger than the others! When he bashed in the barricade, I’m not ashamed to say I got a little scared. But the other fellas with me were fully capable. We took ‘em down, no sweat. I even killed the big one, myself! The people in here seemed pretty unfazed, I guess the undead are a regular occurence. I was super impressed by Tharrus. He dug right into the big guy and found a ring in his chest! I didn’t know such things were possible! I got a lot to learn about adventuring, I guess…” He leans in to whisper, “Oh and that guy Wyne? He snatched a wineskin off the dead ogre and chugged it straight down. Then started wandering off to look for more. We decided to follow him…ya know, to protect him and stuff.” “When we caught up to him he admitted he was looking for some kind of totem, which I guess brings the undead around? We ended up in a kind of square with a well in the middle. I noticed some glowing figures floating and dancing around the well! Nobody else did, which was super weird, but eventually they believed me. I was pretty scared at first, but it seemed really interesting and it kept calling to me. I decided to be brave and go for it. When I got close I started dancing and I couldn’t stop! It felt great! I called to the others to join and everyone except the lizard guy and Guyuh did. (He sure likes to say his name a lot.) “And then the weirdest thing happened! We all woke up in this white space. Like nothing was around except this dancing wooden pole in the center of us. It started talking to us… Totally weird! We tried to impress it with our dance moves and Tharrus even turned into a wolf. The pole must have liked him best because it suddenly turned into a tree-lady! She was super nice, but she did a weird thing. She broke off her finger and gave it to Tharrus! She said her finger could direct the undead and that we had freed her with our dancing. Cool! The next thing we knew, we were back at the well and it was daytime. We all felt super awesome from our time with the tree lady. “We went off to find some undead to practice with the staff, and the others got distracted by some weirdo bird-people playing cards. They started tossing scalps on the table for money and I just sat back and watched. I don’t have so much money so I didn’t want to spend any of it. I need to save everything I can…” 1/8/2018 0 Comments Tharrus and the staffby Tharrus (Mike B.) 8 Summer RiseFought 4 zombies and 1 zombie ogre just outside of the Tankard. The ogre zombie kept to the shadows when it advanced and was carrying a zombie on its back so it could breach the barricade. They are getting smarter… Found a magic ring inside the chest cavity of the ogre that will hold up to 100 gold coins/spell components etc.
Played poker with a Kenku, and I (Tharrus) won the poker game and now have 50 scalps in my possession. Gross, but they will likely be useful later. Wooden staff hovering over a well with 5 ghost like figures circling it. The figures were not aggressive. One of the party (Horras) decided to interact with a figure and he then involuntarily became dancing and circling the wooden totem. Eventually 5 of the 7 party group (including NPC Wyne) joined in on the dancing and we were all taken to an area with a female Treant (she did not give her name) she told us that by dancing around the totem we have broken the spell that had her trapped. She also told us that there were 4 (maybe 5 I can’t remember) more totems in the city. She also told us that the totem could direct the undead. Once she released back into the city, a night had passed. Horras caught a single leaf that fell from the sky and we then tested the totem in what was an old plumbing store. There were 5 undead hands on the counter and I was able to command them to release the brushes that they were holding. We took the brushes, of course, and went back to the Tankard to reunite with Salazar and the Paladin obsessed with Gaia. Luckily Theobold Peacekeeper was milling about the Tankard (Via Discord) and was able to identify the ring. As he tried to identify the staff he immediately dropped it and warned that is was evil in nature. The powers of this staff should help us clear out the undead horde surrounding one of the totems. We hope… By Zorak Dreadmast (Alan H.) 8-9 Spring Fell (game session 12/8/17 and 1/5/18)TL;DR: Kyull the Tortle knows how to drink, Tortle Island is quiet, and there’s griffins at Griffin’s Roost! See Ayten's Recap I needed some goddamn fresh air, so I went with some others to Omgar, the paradise island of these turtle dudes. The trip started fun enough by getting absolutely wasted with Kyull at the bar. Next thing we knew, we got an enterprising young fisherman named Hamilton to take us over to the island, which seemed to be...moving? He was a nice enough dude and I think with the right training, I could make a real sailor out of him. It’s weird teaching people to sail...without the pirate stuff. Honestly, not much to see at the island. Things were certainly fun enough. Great food, great drink, sharing stories with with the turtle dudes, but these other groups that have been here pretty much cleared Omgarr out of treasure. There are tons of stories and rumors of stuff, but nothing new that we found that Ayten, Bennie and the others hadn't seen before...until we came on the crazy giant lizards we called Valaquaraptors. I think we found a nest or something. Luckily Ayten and Bennie distracted them while we ran into the nest to find an old corpse with some loot on him. I got a nice ring and we all got some treasure. Poor guy was some kind of minor noble from Sanctus. I guess we’ll never know for sure now that Omgar is moving on. And speaking of Omgar moving on, we had to take off ASAP before the island left us too far from the rainy hellhole of Black River Island. As Hamilton took us away, we spotted a large structure at the top of the cliffs to the east of the island. Luckily enough, there was a seaside cave entrance to take us up; unluckily enough it was filled with those stupid sahaguins that have attacked BRI before...and some goddamn rust monsters that ruined my axe, and soem kind of weird ooze thing, and some undead, but the real prize was at the top. Motherfuggin Griffins! And they had eggs! Ayten made sure we didnt harm them and they didnt hurt us, but we need to find a way to secure this fort, dubbed “Griffin’s Roost”. It’s clearly the best place to watch for incoming ships or lead an eastern signal point. You can even see the island from the top! It would also be fuggin sweet to ride some griffins and drop in on these hag bitches! Other players Bennie (Gabe) Zorak (Alan) Vicentos (Paul) Ayten (Vera) Liam (Jordan) |
