by krolan ironbender (doug s.) 28 hsTL;DR: Krolan the dwarven ranger arrives on Black River Island and explores a sunken bunker defended by Shimmerscale lizardfolk. Hekili's Recap | Ralthor's Recap | Vandil's Recap | Fagan's Recap The Black River Island Tavern is busy. Dozens of fishermen, merchants and adventurers gather for supper as Hurlee has created a feast from the various creatures hunted and trapped in the wilds of the bayou. Rawq Elrid provides assistance in the kitchen with spices and some cooking skills shared from the Hayer to liven up the crowd. As the patrons sit and dig into their meals, a rather large mountain dwarf steps up onto a table in the corner of the hall and announces, “Ladies and gentlemen! My name is Krolan Ironbender, gladiator and dungeon delver from the high peaks of the Farclan! Focus your attention for the next few minutes as I present a true tale of discovery, combat and high-adventure from my party’s expedition into the harsh south bayou! Listen closely, as you may set foot upon this very site…” With that, Krolan draws a perfectly sharpened battleaxe with his right hand and a handaxe detailed in dwarven runes in his left. Each weapon catches the dim room light as they are wielded in strong, fluid motions as the dwarf reenacts the physical elements of the dramatic story as it unfolds. Krolan takes in a deep breath and begins to regale the previous day’s events… “The nimble forest hunter, called Vandil, recruited four brave souls along with myself to join him on a mission to clear a partially sunken bunker of stone deep in the central southern bayou region that he had discovered some time before. The mighty Raalthor, my towering dragonborn nomad friend, followed our halfling guide closely. The charismatic and well-known gnome bard, Namfoodle, a half-elf burglar called Fagan, and a very unusual turtle-humanoid warlock called Hekili rounded out the party. Finding the ruin structure did not take as long as rumored, due to Vandil’s keen skills as a guide and hunter. We discovered that the structure portals were mostly left open after the prior party exited, but some key rooms remained un-explored. One such area was barred by a jammed stone, pocket door…that I nearly cracked my head open with a crowbar trying to open,” Krolan acts out a crowbar striking himself on the side of his face, then continues, “…but Raalthor made quick work of loosening the portal with a loud mechanical clank.

11/30/2017 0 Comments Sunken Ruinby raalthor (Matt S.) 28 HSTL;DR: Ralthor joins a party to continue exploring a submerged ruin. Krolan's Recap | Vandil's Recap | Heliki's Recap | Fagan's Recap Sitting down at the tavern, Raalthor began working away with a whetstone on his greatsword. His clanmates had taught him well about the necessity of caring for his equipment. With a small smile (for a dragonborn), he hoped that the day’s exertions would make them proud. He’d joined a small crew of adventurers to investigate some sunken ruins, lead by the halfing ranger Vandil. Raalthor’s ancestral armor had been damaged during his time in the ice, so he looked for any opportunity to fund the repairs. But more important than that was to live. To exalt in the glory of life, in combat, in the struggle; to prove himself worthy of the Odinsori. The events in the ruins would certainly qualify. Vandil had previously burned away some moss covering one of the sliding doors found throughout the ruins. It’d taken quite a bit of struggling with a crowbar, but that door had slammed open. Unfortunately, the mystically-glowing moss covering the floor of the room beyond also contained some strange moving growths that made the most maddeningly unearthly shrieking he’d ever heard. Shriller than any Stormhorn eagle, he’d waded in with the rest of the crew to try and cut them down. Than the corpses came. 11/30/2017 0 Comments Fagan's taleby Fagan (Jason M.) 28 HSTL;DR: Fagan joins adventurers in exploring a submerged ruin and fighting off lizardfolk. Krolan's Recap | Vandil's Recap | Ralthor's Recap |Hekili's Recap A rain soaked half elf stands in the doorway of the Black River Tavern, rain dripping of his cloak and pooling on the floor around his feet. He removes the mantle, hanging it on a hook near the door and approaches the bar for a drink. He seems in a remarkably better mood than the last time he returned from adventure and it's soon clear why when he pays for a stiff drink with gold instead of copper. "Oh this? Nah, just a little splurge. Got my blades wet so I can get my whistle wet. Place was cleared out when we got there. Not of monsters though. Some idiot left the door open and the lizards got in. Man I hate those fuckers. You know anyone wants lizards dead, you send them to me." A second drink seems to have loosened his tongue and he speaks more freely. "Anyway, it was me and Namfoodle and some others I didn't know too well. I liked that dwarf fella though. Krolan I think? Anyway, we get in, and stumble on some screeching mushrooms. What a fucking racket. Just when we almost have them finished off the dead walk in. One of 'em whacked me good, so I had to... step back... but the others seemed more than happy to smash. The dragonborn - Ralthor? - dude went nuts on 'em. It's lucky I did too because I saw something scurrying away into the darkness the way we came in. I cut out from the others and tried to pursue but we lost the trail." He continues to spin a tale of fighting off more lizards and getting surrounded at one point. "I wasn't worried though. Got to split two of those fuckers in half, even if they were sleeping." He tips his drink to Namfoodle. "We cleared it out. Sealed it up too, so if anything's in there, you know it got in on its own. Didn't find anything good, but like I said, killing lizards is always good work." 11/30/2017 0 Comments Summerport becomes Winterportby Thrugg (Marty) 23 HsTL;DR: Thrugg awakens 1,000 years in the future and finds the tropical island of Summerport is now frozen. He writes some new songs. Salazar's Recap | Theobold's Recap | Mindartis' Recap | Kegrove Chronicles Well, recent events have forced me to continue documenting my adventures in this paltry medium. It appears that the great wave we sought refuge from sent us nearly 1,000 years into the future. On our arrival, it was quite clear that Summerport had been decimated. What was once a mighty tropical port is not longer mighty, tropical, nor even a port. In light of this, I have renamed this city to Winterport!
Seeing our surroundings, Dwain and I volunteered to take point and make sure the way to the Tankerd was safe. We left Onen and Salazar at the obelisk to manage the survivors with clear instructions that they should give us a head start and then follow. Not wanting to burden Onen and Salazar more, we let Bryn join us. We made it to the Tankerd, made the necessary fixes to ensure that it was habitable and located enough rations for our party and the survivors for several days. After doing so, Onen and Salazar made it to the Tankerd with a handful of men. Salazar informed me that the rest were lost. Knowing Salazar all too well, I ran out to try to rescue as many of my fans as I could. While my efforts were great, we still lost nearly 100 of the survivors. I don’t blame Salazar for this, after all, what did I expect? However, I am disappointed that Onen was not able to do more to protect these innocent survivors from Salazar’s actions. 11/30/2017 0 Comments Make Summerport Great...again!by salazar (Paul) 23 hsTL;DR: The heroes of Summerport awaken 700 years later in a frozen version of what they knew before. Theobold's Recap | Mindartis Recap
It has been another long, cold day here at the Tankard. Lok Feyn has been more loyal to his duties than I ever expected my companion to be. He must have put a lot of trust in me since that fateful day we met. Those who volunteered for guard training seem to be doing well, my appointed captain Fredisicmo and I will have to go out and lead a hunt later today. The rations are getting low. As the day passes and it starts getting closer to dusk, Lok Feyn rushes in with a warning to the East, it seems that Thrugg and Dwain have returned with others and that he noticed they are being surrounded by bandits. I rush out of the office shouting to Fredisicmo to grab two men and follow me. We rush East towards the crumble lighthouse to aid my comrades. As I get closer I can see one group of the bandits are aflame, I order my guards to flanks the group of bandits to the right of us and aid the man with a new face. I knock an arrow and let loose, it grazes by the brow of this bandit, but as it does I see something very interesting. This bandit has a beak, and dark feathers. I have heard stories from home about birds that walk like men, but those stories told that they were as tall as men, and had wings that could span the length of my body. These creatures barely came up to my waist. I must interrogate one of them. |
