by Ayten Gilrin (Vera d.) Jan 17TL;DR: Ayten hires Rawq, Morgrimm, Zorak, and Shield leader, Udoroth, to seek the last sylvan sword called "Summer's Breath" in the northwestern mountains with Dufdor (the firbolg's help). The party takes the sea route and encounter a shark (thwarted with Beast Bond), an abolith in Dead Man's Grotto, and discover a nest of manticores. They discover that an earthquake had set loose Heartslayer, the undead Eladrinne warrior who protects the sylvan sword, Summer's Breath. They delve into the underdark and discover the ancient drow mausoleums and a treasure trove. Dear Eilis and Theobold, First - dear sister Eilis - I'm sorry you lost your sword, Aqmar, to a clever polar bear. I hope the recovery goes without a hitch. I have successfully acquired Summer's Breath, but it wasn't easy. The undead elf, Heartslayer, was sworn to protect it and he gave us a good fight -- in a drow temple! I will have it for you when you return from Summerport next week. Theobold: In this journey, we have established an alliance with the firbolgs, led by Dufdor and his sister Audra. Together, we opened the spire using arcane means: Bless (Morgrimm), Jump (me), Druidcraft (Dufdor), and Jump (Audra). We entered the tomb without disturbing the plate but discovered an earthquake had opened the door leading to Heartslayer. We jumped in and followed the quake to a series of tunnels that ultimately led us to a company of skeleton soldiers (magic stone is pretty handy for destroying skellies) and delved into a drow crypt. Heartslayer was waiting for us in the drow temple. Udo had successfully summoned one of the undead minions and had Heartslayer under his control but for a moment. I had wildshaped into a giant spider but unfortunately, Heartslayer got the best of me. I ran out of wildshapes but fortunately my heroic companions prevailed. We found the exit leading back to the forest and got back safely. Lore on the obelisks and the swords: The four spires in Black River are from a primordial elf race from before the cataclysm. The eladrinne created the swords to evoke the four seasons of war. They magnify power and Midden Heap has her hands on the Spring sword. The White Tower has a fairy ring by it that opens on the night of a full moon. By the way, have you ever heard of an abolith? He was an odd slimy creature waiting for us in a grotto we dubbed Dead Man's Grotto. He was accompanied by a couple of pale almost translucent fisherman. He really messed with our heads and kept inviting us to join him. I fought him as a giant octopus but ultimately escaped to prevent further injury. I think you try to make contact with this strange humanoid. Zorak had the heebie jeebies about him. P.S. I have added to my catalog of creatures on Black River "Island."

Otherwise, replace those which you displace. Report also contains information about the ancient Eladrinne in the obelisk and the names and relationships of the hags. Dear Theobold, A party of us (Lindir of Shield, Aredhel, Glin, Shaena Tosscobble, and a new explorer, Grildor Trueforge) met with Dufdor tonight. I told him about the spire falling in and fighting the undead wight while Lindir mentioned the discovery of the painting that appears to be a portal to the feywild. Dufdor was displeased and said we need to leave alone the ancient monuments that survived the Great Cataclysm. He noted that there is a place in the west that we especially must not disturb and that the lizardfolk are united in protecting it from interference because the great evil within is worse than the hags. No matter who is in charge, the chiefs rely on honor to guard the pyramid. He knew of the tomb that I explored with Rawq, the Greenfelds, and Morgrimm, and said that the beings on the murals are fey called Eladrinne who thrived before elves are the elves that we know of today. The Eladrinne harnessed ancient magic that still have a presence in the bayou. Dufdor cautioned us against awakening the hags. He said the bayou is their playground and their anger has yet to be awakened. The hags are:
11/7/2017 0 Comments lindir's report to udorothby lindir (jacob b.) 14hsThe meeting with Dufdor was a valuable interaction. We gained a lot of knowledge regarding the hags and how they are a coven. Midden Heap is a hag and Pollen is her sister and they are locked in a neverending battle of power one is always trying to defeat the other and the bayou is their playground. The hag known as Bonechewer is Pollens daughter. I believe if we are to restore peace in the bayou we need to figure out a way to banish the hags back to the feywild or if we are unable to then we need to eliminate them. Dufdor warned us that we need to keep balance and if we banish them we need to be certain that no other evil can arise from the hags absence. We have two items a mirror with sylvan etchings and a painting with some sort of portal magic that we believe is a gateway to the feywild. We need to look further into this and see if we can figure out to access this portal.
Udoroth, we were attacked by Midden Heap she was the woman in robes that conjured the blights to attack us. I believe that we need to eliminate all three of these hags and, if we are able to, provide more weapons to Atuji and Clan Greatscale to protect that pyramid you visited and also potentially gain their help in defeating the hags. They’re tall, large, almost like the legends of ogres, but something more human in shape. Their faces are sylvan-like, and- gah, I could go on!” Theobold’s typically reserved and professional manner is completely overridden by his energy. I cross referenced some books I have, and it matches only the brief snippets of lore around Firbolgs. It has to be them. Reclusive, wary of strangers, understands giant and elvish, it all fits! This one called himself Dufdor, “Watcher of the Southern Waters”. He claimed to have been watching us and observing our presence in the swamp. He lamented how things have been going, and was concerned for our ignorance.” Theobold begins to get silent as he contemplates all the hardships, violence, and death that has happened so far in the expeditions. “Moreso, he warned us. He protected us from walking into an ambush of some kind of twisted lizard creatures (not to be confused with Lizardfolk). This land is torn into chaos by the Hags, who pit the other races native to the Bayou against each other for their entertainment and pleasure. 10/16/2017 0 Comments peaceful parlay with the bullywugs?by glin ybendawien Droat (Kep A.) 5-7 hsTL;DR: 7th of Highspring: Glin returns to the Black River Tavern with Theobold, Shaena, and Aredhel. Could not find bullywugs. Met Furbolg and arranged meeting. Our canoes were deliberately smashed. Two days earlier 5th of Highspring In preparation for a hopefully peaceful parlay with the local bullywugs, and with the knowledge of their attraction to shiny or valuable objects, Shaena had the clever notion to decorate a colorful scarf with copper coins. I don't know if it will be appealing to humanoid amphibians, but the only costs are a scarf and the equivalent of one gold piece. 6th of Highspring After a few hours of paddling, we pulled the canoes ashore and for the remainder of the day trekked through the grass and muck in search of the bullywugs. On our way we sighted a large bird, a crane. It was not just large, but unbelievably massive. It could have stomped on me with one talon and not even noticed. Later that night during my watch, I heard a sound that could have been a large bird from the south. Perhaps it was that giant crane. |
