1/8/2018 0 Comments First taste of Adventureby Naill Amakiir (Jason M.) 8 Summer RiseSee Tharrus's Recap
“There must have been ten of them at least! They just kept coming! We’d cut ‘em down and they just get back up. Never seen anything like it in my life. And the one guy… waaay bigger than the others! When he bashed in the barricade, I’m not ashamed to say I got a little scared. But the other fellas with me were fully capable. We took ‘em down, no sweat. I even killed the big one, myself! The people in here seemed pretty unfazed, I guess the undead are a regular occurence. I was super impressed by Tharrus. He dug right into the big guy and found a ring in his chest! I didn’t know such things were possible! I got a lot to learn about adventuring, I guess…” He leans in to whisper, “Oh and that guy Wyne? He snatched a wineskin off the dead ogre and chugged it straight down. Then started wandering off to look for more. We decided to follow him…ya know, to protect him and stuff.” “When we caught up to him he admitted he was looking for some kind of totem, which I guess brings the undead around? We ended up in a kind of square with a well in the middle. I noticed some glowing figures floating and dancing around the well! Nobody else did, which was super weird, but eventually they believed me. I was pretty scared at first, but it seemed really interesting and it kept calling to me. I decided to be brave and go for it. When I got close I started dancing and I couldn’t stop! It felt great! I called to the others to join and everyone except the lizard guy and Guyuh did. (He sure likes to say his name a lot.) “And then the weirdest thing happened! We all woke up in this white space. Like nothing was around except this dancing wooden pole in the center of us. It started talking to us… Totally weird! We tried to impress it with our dance moves and Tharrus even turned into a wolf. The pole must have liked him best because it suddenly turned into a tree-lady! She was super nice, but she did a weird thing. She broke off her finger and gave it to Tharrus! She said her finger could direct the undead and that we had freed her with our dancing. Cool! The next thing we knew, we were back at the well and it was daytime. We all felt super awesome from our time with the tree lady. “We went off to find some undead to practice with the staff, and the others got distracted by some weirdo bird-people playing cards. They started tossing scalps on the table for money and I just sat back and watched. I don’t have so much money so I didn’t want to spend any of it. I need to save everything I can…”

by Dilondorg Kaal (Paul B.) 4 Summer RiseI have made landing in this new land at the direction of master. She has informed me that there may be knowledge in this land that is unknown to her and has sent me to learn of it. And along the way, collect the tribute she constantly craves. When I enter the town I am surprised to see one of my own. He introduces himself as Remeth Tearheart. He seems to be the commander of the garrison in this town. He escorts me through the streets, describing what is what. Where i can find the library, the blacksmith, the alchemist, and to my surprise a necromancer is mentioned, but quickly glossed over that. This character I must meet.
We come upon a grove in the center of town, Remeth tells me that this is the Druid’s Circle’s fountain, and that all the animals are welcome here. As he says that, a wolf walks up from the forests outside of town to drink. The magic of druids is a peculiar one, I must look into this more when I have the time. From there in the center of town, I can see a group of strange people enter the Alchemist shop, a gnome, an elf, and a silver brother walking in with dark pelts of some sort. I excuse myself from Remeth’s tour, thank him and make my way to the shop. The outside of the shop reads "Stripped Ingredients" and I can see them through the window arguing with the shopkeeper. I listen in and as I do I can hear the shopkeeper exclaim that it was “a trade secret”. That is when I barge in the door, towering above the old man, he must have been scared of me, because right then in there he divulged the “secrets” to these adventurers. They must have been happy with the results because afterwards they invited me to join them on a mission to the west of town to seek some missing animals. I was happy to oblige. 1/4/2018 0 Comments letter to mumby peter the wolf (Jake W.) 4 summer RiseSummer Rise 4, 4 days pass.
Dear Mum, I got a cloak made out of a fey creature. I think it looks dashing, but you might think it looks gross. Though all of my friends have one as well, so at least I am fitting in. Anyways we followed the trail of the creatures we were tracking. We came upon a group of people and a new friend was very rude to them. They left in a hough and attacked us later. He could really use some of your lessons on manners. He then turned into a creature, like I can do. Though my friends said he was a fiend. They live in a city very far away and were taking people for a reward. We found the Kobold liar. They took an ancient Goliath burial mound and were sacrificing creatures to bring about The Crimson Surgeon. He seemed more like a butcher though as his minions were cutting up creatures and mixing their parts with others an bringing them back to life. Well I had to save the Far-touched one’s cat. I started combat with the big Kobold, and my friends came to help me, but would couldn’t stop the summoning. So a giant humanoid was summoned from a crown drawn in the ground. It said it would come after the brethren of two of my friends. I think he was referring to Dragons. I think he might be a giant. We found an ancient map with a city in the mountains. I am back in the village and I am going to commune with the tamed Druids. Your Peter. 12/22/2017 0 Comments Letter to mum (1)by Peter the Wolf (Jake W.) 22 spring fellSpringfell 22, No days pass.
Dear Mum, Today I made my way to a city. I don’t remember it’s name, but it is nice. I think you would like it. There are many open spaces. Also small animals run around everywhere. It is unnatural. They should flee from man and me. They don’t. There are druids here. They don’t keep the wild ways. They tend garden. We also met a necromancer, who has touched the far realms. She says there is necromancy in the Church. Nothing makes sense here. I have been minding my manners, I think you would be proud of me. We helped save some farmers from fey beasts. As I get closer to the forest I feel closer to home. I can now turn into animals. But I forgot to tell you what we are doing. My pack has heard of things coming in and taking pets and small animals. They were described as walking on two feet, 4 feet tall, and some were brown others spotted. We followed their tracks and the scrapes they left in the stones. That is when we found the displacer beasts that killed the farmers. I am hoping to get further into the forest soon. I miss you very much. Peter 12/20/2017 0 Comments Venture to Cavalier's Watchby Nehi-Xum, tiefling warlock bound to Oberon (Jason M.) 10-13 Spring fellArrived from Sanctus on Day 10 of High Spring. Temperate seaside city of Cavalier's Watch
We were met by Ramerith Tearheart of The Epoch, a fighter's guild/city watch. He recalled meeting tortles from Sanctus, but no others. Told us a lot about the town and happenings therein. At Ramerith's suggestion, we sought out Wellig Earthfall, a dwarven alchemist who was accosted on the caravan trail into town by hooded creatures wearing long pointed masks that spoke only in broken common. He said they only stole odd bits from travelers, nothing of inherent value. Innkeeper Jesunell, a bard, told several stories, reinforcing what Ramerith told. One interesting story: large rumbling/explosions to the northwest of Cavalier's Watch. An area of 100 trees were ripped straight from the ground, some sheared clean off at a 45 degree angle. Strange blue-green blood was found on the ground after the event. Two men in the tavern eyed Madash and I. Madash said he heard them talking of bounties and making a lot of money with us. I suggested we head to our quest. (nb: Stay away from the city of Sakar.) We came across two merchants near the crossroads north of town around dusk. Ryltrin distrusted the pair and so we set up watch within view of their camp. Shortly after dark they fell under attack by creatures wearing bird masks. As a team we rushed to their aid, quickly dispatching the creatures. We spared two of them for interrogation and discovered the source of the caravan attacks. I had to convince the two merchants to spare the kikimora's lives, persuading them the bird-kin could be of use in town fletching arrows. Began and Zarkush escorted one to Cavalier's Watch while we retained the other kikimora, Kymik, as a guide. He informed us of the giant spiders that infest the northern woods, but more interestingly spoke of the one they call Irros who lives in a cave deep in the woods and to whom they offer the shiny trinkets pilfered from traveling merchants. Described as a small, scaled, winged creature, we exchanged knowing glances as we prepared to enter the cave. After a final warning from Kymik of 'dusty creatures' within, we entered the cavern. Near the entrance we unearthed a chest containing a journal of Harthall Vermillion which spoke of tales told, yet unbelieved. Therein lay a warning against Layineice, the Queen of Poison. This resonated with us as the kikimora had warned of a "She" who directed the spiders. With signs of poison all around we proceeded warily through a portcullis whereupon we encountered a shadow. It was quickly dispatched within a room containing two interesting tapestries. Both appeared to animate before our eyes depicting wildly different scenes. One showed ghouls ripping out the soul of Madash who, in his rage, tore the canvas to ribbons. A larger mural on the opposite wall showed a scene where a barmaid served several incorporeal beings drinks. On the periphery of the scene were two black bottles. Amarath, being braver than I, reached in to grab them and was rewarded with two potions of healing! A lucky draw if ever considering what we eventually encountered. Intrigued by this fresco I removed it from its frame, and upon storing it noticed two sets of letters, VW atop FR on the reverse. We pressed on past various false walls, encountering the dusty creatures we had been forewarned of. Satisfied this area of the cavern was clear, we returned to our entry point and proceeded in the other direction. |
