by krolan ironbender (doug s.) 28 hsTL;DR: Krolan the dwarven ranger arrives on Black River Island and explores a sunken bunker defended by Shimmerscale lizardfolk. Hekili's Recap | Ralthor's Recap | Vandil's Recap | Fagan's Recap The Black River Island Tavern is busy. Dozens of fishermen, merchants and adventurers gather for supper as Hurlee has created a feast from the various creatures hunted and trapped in the wilds of the bayou. Rawq Elrid provides assistance in the kitchen with spices and some cooking skills shared from the Hayer to liven up the crowd. As the patrons sit and dig into their meals, a rather large mountain dwarf steps up onto a table in the corner of the hall and announces, “Ladies and gentlemen! My name is Krolan Ironbender, gladiator and dungeon delver from the high peaks of the Farclan! Focus your attention for the next few minutes as I present a true tale of discovery, combat and high-adventure from my party’s expedition into the harsh south bayou! Listen closely, as you may set foot upon this very site…” With that, Krolan draws a perfectly sharpened battleaxe with his right hand and a handaxe detailed in dwarven runes in his left. Each weapon catches the dim room light as they are wielded in strong, fluid motions as the dwarf reenacts the physical elements of the dramatic story as it unfolds. Krolan takes in a deep breath and begins to regale the previous day’s events… “The nimble forest hunter, called Vandil, recruited four brave souls along with myself to join him on a mission to clear a partially sunken bunker of stone deep in the central southern bayou region that he had discovered some time before. The mighty Raalthor, my towering dragonborn nomad friend, followed our halfling guide closely. The charismatic and well-known gnome bard, Namfoodle, a half-elf burglar called Fagan, and a very unusual turtle-humanoid warlock called Hekili rounded out the party. Finding the ruin structure did not take as long as rumored, due to Vandil’s keen skills as a guide and hunter. We discovered that the structure portals were mostly left open after the prior party exited, but some key rooms remained un-explored. One such area was barred by a jammed stone, pocket door…that I nearly cracked my head open with a crowbar trying to open,” Krolan acts out a crowbar striking himself on the side of his face, then continues, “…but Raalthor made quick work of loosening the portal with a loud mechanical clank.

11/30/2017 0 Comments in search of a fiend. Nope.by hekili nalani (Vera D.) 28HSI joined a party of adventurers to check out a sunken dungeon. Vandil, the wood elf, mounted on a giant wolf spider, had been there before and wanted to make sure the dungeon was cleared out. I went hoping to find some evil souls to return to the Fiend. What we found were screeching mushrooms and about 10 lizardfolk of the Shimmerscale clan.
We defeated the lizardfolk although it took a while in the water-filled room. I am still practicing my Eldritch Blast...It sparks and crackles, and sometimes blasts. I hope to have better control next time! Krolon the dwarf opened up a room and we found a hoard of treasure plus a wall with sylvan writing: The warrior of the four seasons steps between the worlds on the fullest night." I don't know what that means but the others who have been on this island for a while say it's related to the sea hags and four obelisks that imprison undead sylvans. 11/28/2017 0 Comments trip to tortle islandby kellen McCall (steve b.) 24 -25 hsI set off to Tortle Island, also called Omgar with a few new companions: Halfling Brothers Benedict and Roscoe, a Dwarf named Morgrimm, a Songwee an Elf and Heliki a Tortle. Yeah, Tortle. It’s like…. A Turtle-Man. We set out to explore Omgar and after a nice visit in Ahoy Ahoy, the Tortle village, we went off to visit the Mudpool of Flurrb. Flurrb, with two R’s, I don’t know how to pronounce it, so I’ll pronounce it as flub, fair enough? Mudbath is highly recommended by myself and Benedict, felt wonderful to soak for an hour. There are three pools, we soak in one and felt great, next time another pool! From the mudpools, we went to investigate a snake shrine. At the snake shrine, two snakes came out and talked to us. Talking snakes and turtle people? Will wonders never cease? Snakes wanted us to return their gods Merishalk’s icons which were stolen by boulder creatures who live in a cave. Off we go to the cave! Lo and behold, there are boulder creatures that live in a cave not far away. Like, boulder creatures; small boulders with arms and legs. They’ve got shiny crystals inside them. Yeah, we had to kill a bunch of them. I had quite the hard time penetrating their thick rocky skin. Also in the caves was a creature…gods and blood how to describe it… a snail with flails on it’s back. Let’s call it a flailsnail shall we? We do manage to defeat all the rock guys and the flailsnail, find some treasure and head back to town. I have managed to upgrade my armor, and Roscoe gifted me with a shield. I feel much more confident in my abilities and equipment, I can’t wait to see what the future brings. 11/28/2017 0 Comments mud, snakes, and rock monstersby hekili nalani (vera d.) 24 hsTL;DR: A young tortle warlock (Hekili) goes on her first outing with seasoned adventurers and accept a quest from a pair of yuan-ti snake worshippers. See Kellen's recap I left the great Omgar and swam to Black River Island, a new place for me to find adventure. At the tavern, I met Morgrimm, a dwarven cleric; Sang Woo, a wood elf monk; two halfling brothers named Roscoe and Benny; and a human ranger named Kellen McCall. Morgrimm and the brothers had been to Omgar before, I knew of them from Kyull, who had cleared Umberlee's palace with them. What fierce adventurers these men are! They were interested in going to Omgar, so I accompanied them back. Morgrimm was looking for a giant lizard bird at the market, but Abu, had just sold it to a traveling royal a few days before. The dwarf bought an axebeak's egg instead. Since I wanted to start practicing my spells, I agreed to take the party to the old snake ruins east of Ahoy Ahoy. Along the way, I showed Benny an orchid called nightshade that has a narcotic, paralyzing effect. He was quite happy to have it. We made a stop at the mud mephitt, Flurrb's, mud baths. Those who take full advantage of the baths will truly feel refreshed afterwards, and in some cases, feeling stronger. |
