1/8/2018 0 Comments Tharrus and the staffby Tharrus (Mike B.) 8 Summer RiseFought 4 zombies and 1 zombie ogre just outside of the Tankard. The ogre zombie kept to the shadows when it advanced and was carrying a zombie on its back so it could breach the barricade. They are getting smarter… Found a magic ring inside the chest cavity of the ogre that will hold up to 100 gold coins/spell components etc.
Played poker with a Kenku, and I (Tharrus) won the poker game and now have 50 scalps in my possession. Gross, but they will likely be useful later. Wooden staff hovering over a well with 5 ghost like figures circling it. The figures were not aggressive. One of the party (Horras) decided to interact with a figure and he then involuntarily became dancing and circling the wooden totem. Eventually 5 of the 7 party group (including NPC Wyne) joined in on the dancing and we were all taken to an area with a female Treant (she did not give her name) she told us that by dancing around the totem we have broken the spell that had her trapped. She also told us that there were 4 (maybe 5 I can’t remember) more totems in the city. She also told us that the totem could direct the undead. Once she released back into the city, a night had passed. Horras caught a single leaf that fell from the sky and we then tested the totem in what was an old plumbing store. There were 5 undead hands on the counter and I was able to command them to release the brushes that they were holding. We took the brushes, of course, and went back to the Tankard to reunite with Salazar and the Paladin obsessed with Gaia. Luckily Theobold Peacekeeper was milling about the Tankard (Via Discord) and was able to identify the ring. As he tried to identify the staff he immediately dropped it and warned that is was evil in nature. The powers of this staff should help us clear out the undead horde surrounding one of the totems. We hope…

12/30/2017 0 Comments Investigation in The Dredgeby Theobold Peacekeeper (Alan h.) 30 spring fellTL;DR: Sick necromancer put undead girl in a teddy bear (wtf Kunal!); Undead horde centered on a wooden staff; Saved live captives from the undead and discovered a church in Tallat’s Hill and learned of the Kenku Outkast Village. Against my better judgement, I decided to join Brynn’s expedition to The Dredge to try uncovering the source of the undead. I am no warrior, and I don’t think it’s necessarily possible to use diplomacy with undead, but it is a Herald’s job to secure the safety of their people and allies, and while the undead continue to walk the streets, we are not able to freely traverse to the different city sectors and further our alliances with the native factions of Summerport. In the unfortunately poor meeting that Salazar led with The Fist, he was at least able to get some leads of what is going on from their leader, Palmador. The undead have been observed to hold some faction with the Kenku and seemingly take orders from them, as we’ve seen and replicated with the use of illusions. Palmador revealed that the source of the undead can be found in The Dredge, so that is where Brynn decided his god, Gaia, should lead him. With our group formed, we headed off to the southeast in search of The Dredge. Along the way, we found a curious toy shop that seemed well preserved compared to most of the old structures, guarded by undead skeletons that we made short work of. Brynn detected undead within, so we decided to explore it. Tharrus picked up some spools of gold and silver thread, that seemingly had an enchantment of longevity on them. We came into a room with a large teddy bear in it, which radiated the undead energy. I cant remember who struck the blow to tear it open and see what was within, but we did hear the words “papa” echoed by a cursed undead girl before seeing her put to rest. Unfortunately, we could not stick around for a complete burial, but hoped for time on the way back. Whatever necromancer is doing this undead stuff is truly a sick individual to imprison a young girl inside of a toy bear…. by Theobold peacekeeper (alan H.) 13 SpringfellSee Fagan's Recap | See Kohaku's Recap It seems The Fist have been closer than we thought. As we began planning an expedition to find them in Eastern Seaward to the North East, we noticed tankards emptying left and right. It turns out a youth from The Fist was in our midst this whole time, a young girl named Tilith. We learned quite a bit from her. The Fist all have necklaces that provide them warmth and protect them from the cold elements. I have offered her to come freely into the tavern and trade them for ale if she wishes, as I’m sure many would find them useful. She seemed excited by this and made the magic necklaces sound very common amongst her people. She also informed us of the embassy group planned to arrive on SF 14, tomorrow, and who they are. Its a group of traders and tribesmen that have a network that spans more of Summerport, including a place called Kegrove. She also mentioned an enclave of monks across the city. I wish we could have learned more, but she seemed overwhelmed by guilt at getting caught and vanished from our sight again as soon as we looked away from her. We then headed toward the Obelisk in preparation of heading to Eastern Seaward, and much to my dismay found that all of the inscriptions were missing. The only difference I could think of is that we found the inscriptions at night, so maybe that has something to do with the cause. Kohaku had a brilliant idea to shed magical moonlight on it, and sure enough, it revealed the foreign markings of the Eladrin that we managed to get 7 pages of vigorous rubbings from. On our way back from the adventure, in the bright moonlight of 13 SF, I was able to clearly make out the entire northeast wall of the obelisk and will work to translate what I found. 12/7/2017 0 Comments The Kenku & "Human Problem"by Mindartis Siannodel (Michael d.) 7 Spring FellTL:DR: Mindartis and company encounter kenku with great disdain for humans. I must find new living quarters soon. Quarion would laugh at me were he to see my current residence, but it is the only room available in this abominable place. The locals are diligently working to improve the town and furnish once abandoned structures after clearing them of the undead. After examining their woodworking “skills”, I do not have much hope something appropriate for myself will be livable anytime soon. At least I have my books to keep me company until then. I do miss decent food, though. I’d gladly pay a king’s ransom for a decent glass of miruvórë, but only got blank stares when I asked the innkeep. He was stupidly proud of a dish that he presented instead, apparently made out of snake meat. I didn’t touch it, unsure if he was trying to poison me or not. Salazar the giant lizardfolk was again recruiting people to head out and clear more of the town. He wanted to secure a path so he cou;d contact a local tribe of birdpeople he called the “Kenku”. From their description, I had initially thought they were related to the aarakocra, but now I’m not so sure. He did mention that one of the routes to the enclave was blocked by a giant wall of reanimates, which caught my attention. It sounded like these kenku have some kind of control over the undead. If so, this could be monumental to my work! I wouldn’t have to rely on these half-baked adventures to continue my studies anymore. I volunteered to join the party and was joined by a half-orc bard and a dwarven barbarian who seemed to have a long history with Salazar. Both dimwitted, but congenial enough. Two half-elves, another bard who seemed intent on “making friends with everyone” and a druid. I kept my distance from the overly-friendly bard, but the druid made for a pleasant traveling companion. I find the druidic magic quite interesting. He cast a protective ward over me that granted my skin bark-like properties, though seemed to have the side effect of creating leaves in my hair. Not perfect, but it helped tremendously. 12/7/2017 0 Comments The First Night in Summerportby Kohaku Ruim (Matt S.) 7 of Spring FellTL;DR: Kohaku travels from Black River Island to the frozen island of Summerport. He and fellow adventurers meet kenku and learn about werewolves. Kohaku is tormented by an inner thought. Salazar's Recap | Theobold's Recap | Mindartis's Recap
The borrowed staff clattered to the ground. Kohaku stood swaying, all his muscles and joints loose from shock. He felt weak, queasy, and colder than even the wind’s bitter chill could make him. After all this time, he’d found a link. A solid lead. He’d found someone with the mark of the black hand on their shoulder. He must have missed it in the dark. But why did it have to be him? His mother, whose staff he’d lost--we’ve been over this! he thought furiously to himself—his mother, the one who’d taught him about the gods he now served. His mother, who had only wanted to help the sick and wounded. His mother, dead and buried, a black hand bruised into her shoulder. He’d tracked all over Sanctus, he’d searched at the Black River (THERE IS MORE THERE THAN MEETS THE EYE, the voice of his gods thundered in his mind), and his quest had taken him here, to the frozen town of Summerport. Why did it have to be him? |
