10/31/2017 0 Comments to the midden heapby Lindir Balaeth mitore (Jacob b.) 5 - 7 hsTLDR: Lindir and members of Shield trek into the bayou to find the Midden Heap and instead stumble upon the Greatscale Clan. (Session date: 10/14 and 10/31 combined) 5th of High Spring After several days of training and honing my combat skills. I sat in the Black River Tavern drinking my problems away. I looked over and saw a large golden dragonborn adorned in plate armor and carrying a formidable great sword. After thinking long and hard I recognized the face of the dragonborn from that tragic day when I lost all of my brothers on the battlefield. I haven’t seen Udoroth since that day and it was nice to see a familiar face. Shortly after a sturdy, young half orc female walked in looking way too cheery for my liking, and she had a funny accent. Followed shortly after her, a skinny looking wizard and another familiar face; I thought Koltalon died at Providence with the rest of his unit but he made it out. He’s always been resilient as much as he is honorable. I’d go into battle with anyone from the Shield. After chatting with the former members of the Shield I decided to take part in the adventure to clear this so called “Midden Heap” to restore balance to the bayou. Our party departed Black River and began heading North towards where the Midden Heap was rumored to be. A short way into our journey we encountered a bullywug scout; I stealthily dispatched him with one shot from my longbow Dol Feredir (Head Hunter). A group of bullywugs noticed I split one of their warriors in half and blew their conch horn for reinforcements from Providence I’m assuming and attacked us. Our party dispatched them with ease and continued forward into the bayou.

10/31/2017 0 Comments A way out of the bayouby merelda meznen (vera d.) 5-9 hsTL;DR: Merelda, the young half-orc cleric, joins Shield to locate and destroy the Midden Heap. Instead they discover a thriving lizardfolk village of Clan Greatscale outside of the bayou. The party earns the favor and respect of Chief Atuji and learn there are hills and plains beyond the bayou. (Note: Clan Greatscale is a point of light...for now.) 5 Highspring - Bullywugs Attack! After returning from my last expedition into the bayou, I met a great dragonborn paladin by the name of Udoroth. His reputation is well known around the Island - he leads Shield and has defeated many foes in the field. I accepted his invitation to trek into the bayou in search of a creature he and his comrades, Lindir and Koltalon, keep calling the "Midden Heap." I thought they were referring to garbage but they keep referring to it as a person, particularly a witch of some sort. My new friend, Liam, joined us, and we left Black River Island, headed northeast. It wasn't too long that we were ambushed by bullywugs during the night. Ultimately we prevailed and Liam called my warhammer "Bonecrusher." It has a nice ring to it, so that is what I shall call my best weapon going forward. Father would be pleased. 6 - 7 Highspring - Clan Greatscale We continued east and fortunately avoided a sorrel's nesting grounds. However, we got lost and I shimmied up a tree to determine where to go. I had smelled smoke and from the tree's high vantage, I saw smoke rising up. If Midden Heap is garbage, maybe that was the way. Instead, we ended up coming upon a small tower guarded by eight lizardfolk. 10/7/2017 0 Comments meeting longtail of the lizardfolkby THEOBOLD PEACEKEEPER (Alan H.) 26-28 SSTL;DR: Survived bullywug ambush and sent a message to their leader Bullop, partially translated stone marker to the east, met with Longtail of the Lizardfolk and brokered an alliance pending weapons trade and "Chieftain" meeting at the next full moon on 14 High Spring 28SS 1AE After a brief stop in Verloren to investigate info on Duergar, Hobgoblins, and other new races that the New Cadeni Co has reported, I continued on to Black River Island. It is a smaller and harsher settlement than Verloren certainly, but the water of the bayou has a certain….charm. (if you consider an always-uneasy feeling and constant humidity charming, I suppose). I joined Koltatan, Ayten, Morgrimm, and Malmir on a journey to find the rumored and rare sightings of the “lizardfolk” that have appeared to not be hostile toward the exploration parties and have been seen to be fighting the bullywugs occasionally. Marchwarden Dugal was grateful to finally receive a member of the Heralds, which had been chartered by the council to represent Sanctus in diplomatic matters. After grouping to have a plan of our route, Malmir and I were able to partially translate the rubbing of the stone landmark down the river to the west. Due to the rubbing and the foreign nature of the language and context, it was shoddy at best. Maybe once we get there and see it in person, we can translate it more accurately. 10/5/2017 0 Comments kidnapped!by fagan (Jason M.) ? - 25 ssFagan sits at the bar in the Black River Tavern, turning a glass of amber liquid around and around but not drinking from it. It takes a few prodding questions for the half-elf's eyes to focus and open up, but eventually the story comes out... I set off with a small group of... thugs really, looking to get our blades wet. Hone our skills if you will. We came around by sea and made landfall during the night, this was over a week ago now. We woke to sounds of odd whistling, a sort of call and answer which we found came from lizardfolk; rainbow frills on their heads. We were quickly overwhelmed, my companions [Fagan scoffs with a disgusted head shake] dead. Then, darkness. Later, my eyes open to a group of bullywug being ordered around by a hag. She tells them to keep me alive. Odd, certainly, but I can't say I'm disappointed. I'm kept in a wooden cage, half buried in muck. They feed me, enough to live but still leave me weak. It's disgusting, but I do my best to choke it down. I'm constantly cataloging, watching their activities for any chance at escape, but... I'm under constant surveillance. I know where my things are - they check it every day - I just need to get to it. A few dozen bullywug inhabit this camp. It borders a large pool of water - two alligators keep the smart ones away - and on the far side the most enormous cypress tree I've ever seen. No one approaches it. That's where the hag disappeared after I first arrived. Didn't see her again until... well. 10/5/2017 0 Comments Into the woods & the fairy ringby Heykitd Getoff Melayn (Sarah Cronin) 21-25 SSTLDR; Meeting Pollen and finding the bifurcated tree and fairy ring Several days at sea, my stomach has been empty for days but still I retch. Last thing I can remember was telling tales from the great sage of Moosic mountain. I continue to search for that despicable brother in law of mine the so called “Great fighter Cesare Borgia”, that worthless son of a pope! When I find him I'll drag him back to the highlands. That SOB, walked out on my poor, sister leaving her with 3 little ones to take care of and his little bastard ripe in her belly. I have no idea what my sister sees in that devil. Anyway what were we talking about? Oh yes that tavern in Scantus and the rumors that a Tiefling fighter passed through on his way to black river island. Here I am rocking in the dank festering hulk of a ship. The only comfort on this trip is a large orange tiger stripe cat. I've named her Musettte. My misfortune, being unable to eat the grewl served on this tub, has turned into Musette’s bounty. At last we make “landfall” on black river island, “muckfall" would be a more appropriate description for this strange place. At least I can stand without falling or vomiting. As I plant my feet I instantly feel much better. The fresh sea air and a firm footing relegate the last few days to be nothing more than a soon to be forgotten bad memory. I need a pint “come on Musette” we might as see what the tavern holds. I enter the tavern and knock back a few crowd gathers as I tell of an epic sea journey laced with just enough local details to make it sound plausible. Cheers go up as I strum my lute telling a tale of monsters, banshees and mountainous waves. In the corner a little gnome picks up a flute and adds a shrill pitch making the story all the more death defying. I nod approval at this little one, secretly impressed at his improvised playing. After the telling and a few free pints from the patrons I wander over to the corner to meet the gnome. I ask him his name and what brings him to this place. He replies Damp Noodle or was it Lamb doodles? Hell for all I care it could be Bamboozled. It is good to be in the company of a fellow Bard and Gnomes are such fine creatures. I never met a bad gnome and doubt they even exist. Just a look a the big smile on this little guy it will brighten your day. |
