11/16/2017 0 Comments Zorak Dreadmast, Slayer of Leatherheadby zorak dreadmast (Alan h.) 16-17 hsTL;DR: A party slays the giant gator atop Gator Rock; recover some loot; and get ambushed by the Shimmerscale lizardfolk clan. Zorak slams a mug of ale on the table as he regales the tale to Hurlee, “So Leatherhead came at us as we were heading north, as I’ve heard he does, and then decided to tip over Chat, Cesare, and Hadriel’s canoe. Rhoagar, Brea and I stayed to its side and took shots as it took Hadriel under. That thing took a beating from us, and Hadsy even managed to escape. The beast looked near to finished and after Brea challenged me... I just couldnt take that shit from a gnome and chased it back to its hold under that rock.” Zorak shows a fistful of gems. “Leatherhead’s trove was certainly not without bounty and I’m sure there’s more where this came from.” “Then we wandered west a bit, past the lizardfolk obelisk and in search of a “sunken ruin” that may or may not actually even exist, but the trip was cut short by an ambush from those shimmerscale bastards. Needless to say, we're back here safe and sound!” Zorak guzzles the rest of his tankard.

11/16/2017 0 Comments killing leatherheadby brea (becca w.) 16-17 hsTL;DR; we killed Leatherhead, then went back out into the bayou full of confidence and got sent high tailing back to the tavern by lizard folk.
On the 16th of high spring, our party ventured into the bayou to complete some unfinished business in some ruins. We had no idea where the ruins were but we set out anyways. I purchased Sanctonal’s last canoe, another party member... commandeered a canoe from his brother in-law. This was my first trip into the bayou and there were many specimen in the surrounding areas, including a giant alligator. I would have loved to study him in his natural habitat, however he was quite hostile— as many others had experienced as well. We had quite a toussle with the gator, named leatherhead affectionately by other adventurers. He nearly drowned our new companion but the party bravely did not give up when he let go and sank into the black waters. They dove into the waters, slaying the beast in his home. We returned to the tavern that same day with plenty meat on the bone which the innkeep smoked for us. Full of spirit on the 17th, we ventured back in to the bayou full force, not knowing where the ruins were again...We ventured straight into the bayou, past the gator's lair and avoiding the first turn to the right. We went on NE for one full day, then encountered another fork. We went on West rather than North, and after 3 hours we found a watering hole. We continued on for a time and encountered a group of 6 lizard folk. They, too, were hostile. They had rainbow scales and made shrill whistles, calling to their kin while one escaped away. It was peculiar call, starting low, then high and back to a medium pitch. I would be interested to talk to them, if I could prevent an immediate attack though I fear they may be beyond reason.. 10/19/2017 0 Comments A Tavern Tale - Week 2by rawq eldrid (Doug S.) ss 20-23Rawq is pleasantly distracted as he unwraps the remains of a large alligator on Hurlee’s cutting board table. Large pieces of meat, three swatches of back-hide and three-quarters of the creature’s thick tail fall before the stunned care-taker of the Black River Island Tavern. “What do ya think about this catch, Hurlee?” Rawq smiles and continues, “The best part is how my friends and I ended up with this heap of flesh!” “As we headed out into the bayou on Day 21, all seemed calm in the wild lands. However, the approach to trailhead marker of The Shield revealed a large group of bullywugs, their giant frog familiars and what appeared to be a shaman of their kin. Suddenly, the mystic shaman bullywug cast some sort of cloud or mist magicks that concealed the entire group of frog-folk and we darted to the riverbank to prepare for an attack. To our surprise, all of the creatures retreated to the north without one hint of aggression. They may have hear tale of Udoroth and I routing their kin a few days earlier and ran off…but I am not so sure that to be true. |
