by Noric Synphase (Beau W.)TL;DR: Adventurers break open the second sylvan obelisk in Black River Swamp and recover a mithral blade (one of four). See Obelisks of the Bayou So, the story starts off with a healthy band of adventures that decide to head West in search of the Obelisk they found a short while ago. We needed some experienced fighters on our side for the dangers that we could be facing, and we ventured out in search of knowledge and treasure. The perilous journey Westward began shortly after they traveled about a day. Our warriors are ambushed by a small group of 6 or so lizard folk. As the battle raged on, the party was able to dispatch the raiding party, while knocking 2 unconscious. Because I can speak their language, I find out that their way of fighting is of honor and for “Their King”. We as the group tried to see if there was a way to get an audience with the leader, the two warriors said that (Roughly translated) “since we do not speak for our group of people, our king will not hear your words, because your words hold no weight”… more or less. After a bit of talking, we find out that WE have disgraced them by not killing them in battle. In order to appease their own “honor code”, we challenged them to a one-on-one battle to the death. Because we are here to tell this story, you now know that battle was ours! The adventures move farther into the woods avoiding the problems near the shore and the birds that could possibly pound us into the sandy beach. We avoided the encounter all together and started heading North to the Obelisk. After a short walk, we find the obelisk and proceed to devise a way to open the door without triggering the spire. At this point, we have no idea how the spire is triggered which made the next hour-long discussion fun and intriguing. With some brilliant planning and expert stonecutter knowledge we were able to attach ropes to the door, placing large poles that we dug into the ground and in a “pully style” method, we as the group were able to open the door.

10/7/2017 0 Comments meeting longtail of the lizardfolkby THEOBOLD PEACEKEEPER (Alan H.) 26-28 SSTL;DR: Survived bullywug ambush and sent a message to their leader Bullop, partially translated stone marker to the east, met with Longtail of the Lizardfolk and brokered an alliance pending weapons trade and "Chieftain" meeting at the next full moon on 14 High Spring 28SS 1AE After a brief stop in Verloren to investigate info on Duergar, Hobgoblins, and other new races that the New Cadeni Co has reported, I continued on to Black River Island. It is a smaller and harsher settlement than Verloren certainly, but the water of the bayou has a certain….charm. (if you consider an always-uneasy feeling and constant humidity charming, I suppose). I joined Koltatan, Ayten, Morgrimm, and Malmir on a journey to find the rumored and rare sightings of the “lizardfolk” that have appeared to not be hostile toward the exploration parties and have been seen to be fighting the bullywugs occasionally. Marchwarden Dugal was grateful to finally receive a member of the Heralds, which had been chartered by the council to represent Sanctus in diplomatic matters. After grouping to have a plan of our route, Malmir and I were able to partially translate the rubbing of the stone landmark down the river to the west. Due to the rubbing and the foreign nature of the language and context, it was shoddy at best. Maybe once we get there and see it in person, we can translate it more accurately. 9/13/2017 0 Comments bandit eradication for new cadeni
“A few hours down the road, we saved some kids that were petrified by a cockatrice. Had to put down a giant weasel nest near them. Met some kind of herbalist when we returned her kids to her. Could be good for the Company to work out a deal with her. She gave us these berries that saved our hides. Jelessa, I think? Anyway, seems we’ll probably need to figure out cockatrice migration patterns if we don’t want traders made of stone lining the roads.”
Zorak breaks to take a long draw from his tankard. “About two days along the trade route is when we came across the bandits that Svetleah sent us to find. It's an area with a bridge and cliff face, great for ambush. Two bandits came rappelling down the cliff, four crossbowmen. We tried to reason with them, but they were hard pressed to kick the hornet's nest.” “Malmiir here killed one, we took another with us. Rhogar scared off some of the crossbowmen before we made the choice to report back." “I think you can find Famor in the pen here in Verloren. Seems he's regretted ever getting involved with bandits because he told us everything. Although, losing a hand can do that too,” Zorak let's loose a deep laugh as the messenger’s jaw drops and he goes a little pale. “Anyway, just 2 hours south from that bridge where they ambushed us, he said there’s a fortress garrisoned with about a dozen men. Led by a guy named <Starts with F>. We’re regrouping now to relaunch the expedition to claim the fortress for Cadeni and put these bandits to rest.” Zorak drains the rest of his tankard and looks to the group. “So who’s buying next round?” |
