by Kellen McCall (Steve B.) 14-18 hsTL;DR: Party ventures to a shipwreck to recover a druid's staff and takes a quest from her instead. Encounter an obelisk, giant cows, a cave, and see mountains to the northwest. Tormund's Recap | Noric's Recap | Aredhel's Recap I’ve come to a sliver of civilization out here and teamed up with some others to retrieve an item one of their friends has lost. There is a shipwreck not far from here that is the domain of a hag, some type of nasty supernatural creature. Off we went in search of this creature and this staff. Our party consisted of Carric, an Elf who seems well versed with woodcraft and tracking, Noric and Tormund, two clerics, Tormund a Dwarf, and Aredhel, a Drow cleric. Three clerics, yes I had all the healing I could need though I actually did not need any. Carric and Aredhel, both Elves, covered the watches, I actually got a full night sleep. And Aredhel kept foraging for food, clams along the shore. Yes, I was fully rested and got seafood dinners! Aredhel seemed a little…odd, kept muttering curses at the sun, and exclaiming her wish to extinguish the sun, a bad idea I believe, but what do I know, I just swing a sword. We ventured out and spent our first day simply travelling. That night, as we slept, a creature snuck up on us, and attacked. The others managed to hold it off till I awoke and finished it off. Then I took its head and it’s trident and left a grim totem in place on the beach. When we reached the shipwreck, there was some talking with the hag, she speaks in rhymes and riddles. Of course nothing is ever easy, and she wants another creature dead. Says it’s something with multiple hearts, from the Far Realms, and lives in a cave to the west. So, we head west.

Otherwise, replace those which you displace. Report also contains information about the ancient Eladrinne in the obelisk and the names and relationships of the hags. Dear Theobold, A party of us (Lindir of Shield, Aredhel, Glin, Shaena Tosscobble, and a new explorer, Grildor Trueforge) met with Dufdor tonight. I told him about the spire falling in and fighting the undead wight while Lindir mentioned the discovery of the painting that appears to be a portal to the feywild. Dufdor was displeased and said we need to leave alone the ancient monuments that survived the Great Cataclysm. He noted that there is a place in the west that we especially must not disturb and that the lizardfolk are united in protecting it from interference because the great evil within is worse than the hags. No matter who is in charge, the chiefs rely on honor to guard the pyramid. He knew of the tomb that I explored with Rawq, the Greenfelds, and Morgrimm, and said that the beings on the murals are fey called Eladrinne who thrived before elves are the elves that we know of today. The Eladrinne harnessed ancient magic that still have a presence in the bayou. Dufdor cautioned us against awakening the hags. He said the bayou is their playground and their anger has yet to be awakened. The hags are:
11/3/2017 0 Comments The Monument and the Wightby roscoe greenfeld (Joe r.) 4-6 hsTL;DR: We may have profited nicely from what was in the tomb...or prison….or whatever it was for a hoard of undead. More scholarly adventurers might want to go investigate the monument, it definitely raises many questions. Roscoe hates magic. A day prior most of us stumbled upon a monument of sorts hidden among the trees, just off the coast, about 5 miles east of the black river tavern. The structure has a massive spire that was just visible amongst the tall trees. The structure itself was a masterwork in stone, barely any noticeable gaps or flaws (as per the dwarves) That first visit we could not find our way in with shovel or hammer, so we decided to head back and get some proper equipment. We needed to see what was in it! Benny Greenfeld, Rawq, Morgrimm, Ayten and I (Roscoe) had my fisherman buddy, Rayberto, transport us along the shore 5 miles. We had chisels, sledge hammers, crowbars etc etc anything one would need to get into a tomb or whatever the blasts that thing was; We did not feel it wise to hike through this cursed swamp so weighed down. Upon arrival (around lunchtime) Rawq and I got to work trying to pry open what appeared to be a door. My brother started a smoky fire which I was certain alerted ever frog face in the marshes…. what an idiot. Luckily for him no threats appeared. 11/3/2017 0 Comments The Sylvan Wight & foreign elvesby ayten gilrin (Vera d.) 4-6 HS
TL;DR: A party of adventurers descend into a sylvan obelisk/crypt along the southeastern coast of the bayou. Recommend returning to identify the creatures depicted in the murals and secure the area for Rawq's stone quarry. Roscoe's Recap | Rawq's Recap
Report to the Theobold Peacekeeper, Lead Ambassador of the Heralds on Black River Island Dear Theobold, The dwarven monk, Rawq, recruited me to explore the southeastern coast of the bayou on the fourth of High Spring. I accepted his invitation in hopes of pinpointing the nest of the large birds I have heard about from other adventurers. I ventured forth with Rawq, a pair of brothers, the Greenfelds (Roscoe, a stout fighter, and Benedict, or Benny), and another dwarf, Morgrimm, a cleric. On their last trek out to the bayou, they had found a stone monolith and we returned there to determine what it represented. After 16 hours of trying to open the spire, the stone structure disintegrated and fell into the earth. We hopped in and found that the walls were adorned with tiiled murals of a sylvan or elvish folk but completley foreign even to me. They do not look like the elves of Sanctus. They have more pointed ears and slanted eyes. One mural depicted a female sylvan ruler forcing a black-haired sylvan into a submissive position, his wrists bound behind his back. The other mural showed the same black-haired sylvan but with three other female sylvans with red, copper, and blonde hair. 11/3/2017 0 Comments A Tavern Tale…Later in Week 3by Rawq Elrid (Doug s) 4-6 hsTL;DR: Rawq and fellow adventurers open an obelisk/crypt and fight a hoard of zombies. Roscoe's Recap | Ayten's Recap The tavern is oddly silent and vacant, as Rawq enters followed by Roscoe, Benedict, Morgrimm and, the much taller of the team, Ayten. Dougal is just finishing up a late breakfast as he turns his eyes to the group. Rawq smiles sheepishly and announces, “Good to see you, Dougal! We actually have a tale and a trinket to share with you this fine morning." Benedict walks up to the fully occupied table with a large glass of wine and five small mugs of Dunkel as Rawq continues his recounting of the most recent adventure. “…then we finally chisel our way around the heavy, stone vault door when we feel a rush of stale air escape the chamber. We had open the sealed door, but then the slab crashed down and broke into a few large pieces. Inside, the anticipated darkness was disrupted by four beams of white energy radiating from the corners of the room to the four corners of the giant, stone spire. As we entered, the beams flickered and dissipated followed by a huge crunching thud as the pointed based of the spike struck hard into the floor. I found magical some inscriptions around the base of the spike, as confirmed by Morgrimm’s divination of magicks, and took rubbings to examine later with arcane experts in town. Ayten, Benedict and Morgrimm discovered elaborate mosaics in fine shape on the chamber walls depicting scenes of some ancient elven race in scenes of combat and judgment.” “Upon closer inspection of the floor at the spire’s point of impact, Roscoe and I found a large circular gate or swirling portal door. There was a metallic box in the center of the portal which contained sixteen small tiles with two-digit numbers etched on the surface of each one. Benedict and Roscoe surmised the tiles were some type of a combination lock puzzle…no doubt remembered from some halfling game played in their youth.” Rawq takes a swig of ale from the undersized mug, glances briefly at Benedict in dissatisfaction, then focuses back on Dougal to progress the story. |
