11/30/2017 0 Comments Make Summerport Great AGain!by theobold peacekeeper (Alan H) 23HS 1AETL;DR Make Summerport Great Again. Kenku live in “Winterport”. Adventure is open! Account from Theobold Peacekeeper: Our ship, the “Whisper Dawn” arrived in Summerport under interesting circumstances. Two ships were actually fleeing the city as we arrived, and dropped us with two adventurers, Thrugg and Dwain, that were supposedly behind the reason they fled. Tales of undead and wolves were on their lips. As our boat sailed along the coast, a giant constrictor snake boarded the boat from the cliffs and we made short work of it, especially with Dorros’s distracting moves. Summerport had an unexpected surprise, as we got closer the temperature dropped from tropical to downright freezing. The bay of the port was even blocked by ice! I did not come equipped for this…. Our guides, Thrugg and Durros, were certainly interesting as they began leading us to the Thieves Tankard, a supposed stronghold of civilians. They claimed to be from a past when the city was whole, nearly 700 years ago. They both seem mentally unsound, so I am skeptical of their words. As we approached our destination, we spotted an ambush ahead of some sort of feathered humanoids. With a well-placed entangle from Tharrus, they were caught in the vines and their ambush thwarted. Only one Kenku fell before I convinced the leader to stand his men down, just as a lizardman, Salazar approached with guards of his own from the other side. Unliked the lizardfolk of the bayou, Salazar spoke perfect common, as he told us he was part of this group from 700 years ago, presumably before the Cataclysm. I am still reeling from this knowledge and cannot wait to probe them further on the knowledge they might have.

read part 2 / read part 3The following is recovered from a journal found and translated from draconic into the common to the best of my ability; according to the old ledgers the owner of this journal passed through our town, and this very college, right around the time of the Great Cataclysm.
- Ordos, Archmage of the Mage’s College of Kegrove =============================================================================== Everything seemed to be going well, I have meet new companions on my shore leave and we seem to form a bond in order to survive our predicament. But that was also the day that changed my life. For better or worse is yet to be known. It has been one day since I have recovered my body from a strange series of events. At some point I need to get back to my ship and inform my captain what has been going on. But as of right now, I am honoring my promise to help the last of my new companions recover his body. After all they helped me recover mine. The other three decided to spend the night in the safety of the Mages College, whereas I opted to prepare for the next day. I have set up camp in the woods scouting the area and setting traps to both catch food and materials to make weapons out of. Learning how to make the most of a kill while growing up in the swamplands with my tribe has been a blessing. I don’t know how I would have survived until now without that knowledge. Read Part 1 / Read part 3One of the earliest writings from our lord, the Great Thur’a’ugh. The Great Thur’a’ugh seemed to have an impairment in handwriting, we have done our best to correct his understandable mistakes (though they are few!) For instance, the crude script “Thrugg” clearly indicates “Thur’a’ugh”, and the even more foul “Thruggalo” is obviously “Thur’a’ugh Loh”, the followers of Thur’a’ugh. It is not the Great Thur’a’ugh’s fault, he did not have a formal education as the vast majority of us do in this day and age. He spoke through his music, not through his writing. Should you find yourself beginning to question the validity of our lord through his writings, I refer you to his great “album”, bask in its glory should ever you experience doubt in his teachings. Praise Thur’a’ugh! - Head Archiver, Library of Thur’a’ugh [Continue reading for some fantastic bard songs!]

The Great Cataclysm A recited journal reading from a survivor of old Summerport. As usual, I was bored while sitting against one of the remaining pillars of what was once the Thieves' Tankard drinking hall and decided to record this mad-elf's rantings. It tells an interesting tale, but who knows what's true and what's not any more. Certainly, this Gaia he keeps referring to is driving him insane. Nevertheless, this record shall remain in my notes, a collection of stories of The Travelled, the lone survivors of a great wave that crushed the city of Summerport. There is one detail shared among many of us from numerous discussions since our awakening: that the mage who materialized in the sky that fateful day was able to awaken the Lone Obelisk, enveloping us in a sphere of energy, propelling us countless centuries into the future. Or to the present, as it were. That's one interpretation at least. There are still people living here in the shambles of Summerport. According to the people of this time we are the only known living witnesses of, what they call, The Great Cataclysm… - Gertrand, Scribe of The Travelled |
