11/28/2017 0 Comments mud, snakes, and rock monstersby hekili nalani (vera d.) 24 hsTL;DR: A young tortle warlock (Hekili) goes on her first outing with seasoned adventurers and accept a quest from a pair of yuan-ti snake worshippers. See Kellen's recap I left the great Omgar and swam to Black River Island, a new place for me to find adventure. At the tavern, I met Morgrimm, a dwarven cleric; Sang Woo, a wood elf monk; two halfling brothers named Roscoe and Benny; and a human ranger named Kellen McCall. Morgrimm and the brothers had been to Omgar before, I knew of them from Kyull, who had cleared Umberlee's palace with them. What fierce adventurers these men are! They were interested in going to Omgar, so I accompanied them back. Morgrimm was looking for a giant lizard bird at the market, but Abu, had just sold it to a traveling royal a few days before. The dwarf bought an axebeak's egg instead. Since I wanted to start practicing my spells, I agreed to take the party to the old snake ruins east of Ahoy Ahoy. Along the way, I showed Benny an orchid called nightshade that has a narcotic, paralyzing effect. He was quite happy to have it. We made a stop at the mud mephitt, Flurrb's, mud baths. Those who take full advantage of the baths will truly feel refreshed afterwards, and in some cases, feeling stronger. Eventually, we found our way to Mershaik's shrine. A couple of cobra snakes approached us and asked for our help in recovering the icon of Mershaik from a rocky creature who had stolen it from the tabernacle 6 moons before.
We accepted their quest and ventured east to a cave on the coast. Inside, we battled extremely formidable rock creatures, called geonids. I had just learned Eldritch Blast and Chill Touch -- these spells seemed to bounce off of the monsters' natural armor. Benny is quite clever and cast a magical wall that thwarted the geonids for a while. After we prevailed, our party split up and I went with Sang Woo to the east. That's when we ran into more of the rock monsters. After a few skirmishes, I blacked out. I woke up hours later, and my new friends said they defeated a terrible monster with flail-like tentacles. They had also found some treasure recovered from Umberlee's palace. We returned the idol back to the shrine, which made the snakes very happy. I can't wait to get back to Black River Island and explore more!
