5/23/2018 0 Comments Dear Mama and PAPA...a Tale of Kobold Mines by liana (Teri w.)TLDR: Went to the Kobold mines and the entrance is now guarded by a winged kobold. We only did one level of the mine and found a red dragon wyrmling guarding a horde. We did not engage we bluffed our way past.. We did kill a half dragon and two of his escorts. On the way back to GSV we ran into an enormous three-eyed elk wearing a glowing helm and being ridden by a 9 foot winged creature. After it told Sigrunn telepathically to run the helm glowed brightly and we all felt like we had rested for a month, all our HPs were restored, wounds were healed and our speed was permanently increased by +10. GSV is now a Point of Light. Dear Mama and Papa, I’m finally back from a very harrowing adventure but with what we learned it was worth the trip. The first day Krolon and I waited at Great Scale Village for Sigrunn and Udoroth to arrive from Fort Providence. I decided to talk with Vecca, the great shaman, about getting more of the healing roots. When I approached her ute she was in the middle of a ritual in which she was speaking Abyssal. This startled me and I ran to get Krolon since he is more experienced that I am. I explained what I heard and saw so he headed right over. When we arrived Vecca was no longer conducting the ritual and the cauldron was still. We asked her for more roots but she only had two left and wanted to trade. Krolon offered her some type of metal which she accepted. I asked her if she had a component pouch and she brought out a wonderful saddlebag that would be ideal for Cinder. One of the pouches is a component pouch and the others can hold different objects. It holds up to 150 pounds! She wanted something that was dear to me in exchange and the only thing I had was my flute. I’ve had that since Papa taught me to play but if I am to become a great adventurer then I felt I had to part with it. I put the saddlebag on Cinder and at first he wasn’t really sure about it but through our bond I explained what it was for. He was still a little put out but accepted grudgingly. Later that evening our fellow party members arrived in the village and because it was so late we decided to head out at first light the next day. As dawn approached we set out with six Lizard Folk as our escorts. We were headed east and eventually our escorts had to leave us. As we moved on we approached the path to the mountain. Up ahead we saw three humanoids. One was human with no hair and carrying a blackened steel great sword. The other two were dwarves and seemed to be escorts. We weren’t sure of their motives so we decided to follow them at a safe distance. On the path to the mines we walked through an area littered with burned gnoll bodies and kobold corpses that were not touched by fire. To our astonishment the three figures walked right past the kobold guards on the watchtowers guarding the entrance to the mines. There was also a new addition to the front of the mine. A platform was constructed over the entrance and a winged kobold sat upon it. It was clear we would have to enter the mines through the crack at the back of the mine we found the last time we were there. We entered the crack in the mountain and approached the exit with caution. We could see all the kobold miners hard at work. We dropped down ten feet to a empty platform and looked around. Above the crack was a mural with depictions of horrific acts of violence. This was so shocking that I turned away quickly. The party decided to move through an archway and we stealthed forward, Krolon leading the way. He saw two creatures in the center of a room with flaming hair and beards. We engaged them in battle and were able to win the fight but the room was so hot that we all experienced some exhaustion. We looked around and found papers littering the floor. We gathered those up to take back to Fort Providence. They look like they were pages from a book so we put them in Cinder’s saddlebag. Upon further inspection we saw writing on the wall. It said “When the lion is broken the song becomes silence the tree of quests shall be restored.” As I write this I wonder if this is a prophecy. Greater minds that I can work this through. We moved to another room and in it were the three figures we had followed up to the mine. The two dwarves were dispatched quickly but the human revealed himself to be a half dragon. His name was Ith’anith Lord of the Red. He unleashed his fire breath which hit everyone except myself and Cinder. We were able to recover before that horrid ability could be recharged and eventually were victorious. Udoroth took the Blackened Greatsword adding to his attack and Sigrunn took the Amulet of Disguise Self. I looted the two short swords carried by the dwarves in hopes I can use them to sell or trade. We moved on into a very large room in which three figures slept. We were not able to identify them and so stealthed out of the room and into the passageway to the next room inside which we found a dragon wyrmling sitting atop his hoard. All but Cinder had entered the room and the dragon was asleep but something awoke him and we had to think quickly. Udoroth spoke up since he is dragonborn and told the wyrmling he was escorting new slaves into the mine. The dragon seemed convinced until a movement was made and he lunged forward to intimidate the “slaves”, which worked pretty well on my part. Udoroth spoke up quickly saying new slaves were hard to control and the dragon backed off to settle on it’s hoard telling Udoroth to make sure more gems were added to the pile. We went back to the very first room, Cinder coming down a side passage, and decided to leave the mine and report back on what we’d found. We left through the crack in the wall and started back to Great Scale Village when we saw trees being parted and heard large footsteps which shook the ground. We initially decided to hide in the trees but an enormous hoof came down right next to our hiding spot. We looked up, and up, and up and saw a three-eyed elk wearing a helm that radiated light. Sitting on its back was a nine foot humanoid clad in gold with feathered wings. Its skin was a blueish grey, the eyes and hair were both white and it carried a massive golden mace. After a brief discussion Sigrunn stepped out and hailed the creature in Common. The rest of us heard nothing but Sigrunn’s face changed, he turned to us and said “Run!”. At this point the elk looked at all of us, it's helm glowed and I felt as if I had rested for a month, I wasn’t exhausted anymore and all the strain from the day just went away. I now feel less worried about all that is going on in the world. We did run for a very long time but the creature caught up. We decided to go a little south to see if it was actually following us and it did not. So we headed for Great Scale Village to tell the chief. I don’t know what this creature is but perhaps not as bad as we thought. Dol’Kal was a little angry we had gone to the mine and disbelieving of our story about the giant creature but two scouts came into our presence and reported their sighting as well. Dol’Kal was then very grateful and when Sigrunn broached the subject about making the village a place where adventurers would be welcomed to rest and trade he agreed. All of us decided to return to Fort Providence to report what we had seen and that’s where I end my letter. I miss you both and I want to assure you I am taking care. Love, Liana

5/20/2018 0 Comments When the Lion is Broken...A Tale of KoBold Mines By Sigrunn (Adam F.)Today we returned to Fort Providence with news both good and ill. It has been three days since Udoroth and I headed to Great Scale Village and joined Liana and Krolan in an examination of the Kobold Mine east of the village. The journey to the mine was uneventful save for encountering a small battlefield with corpses of kobolds and gnolls. The gnolls had been burned like the one we encountered when we discovered the mine. We spotted three humanoids heading the same direction as us further up the trail. We chose to follow them, staying far enough back as to avoid alerting them to our presence. They reached the entrance and the larger of them pulled his hood down, then back up and was admitted into the mine. The two towers were stilled manned by two kobolds each and a platform was added above the mine entrance were a winged kobold stood guard. We moved to the hidden entrance we discovered before and made our way in, poor Udoroth having to crouch down due to his size. We observed the kobolds mining in the distance, just as Scaro and Cinder had described before dropping down off of the ledge to a room with several exits. The place was hot and smelled of sulfur, it would be unpleasant for us. Below the ledge was a mural depicting various vile acts. The gods of goodness and life would not be pleased, Freya let me know that this could not stand. Being in the lowest level of the mine, we were in a maze of corridors and rooms, so we allowed Krolan to lead us along as Mountain Dwarves are more adept in navigating these subterranean passages. The first room we found had papers strewn all over the floor and 2 “Burning Dwarves” dressed in loincloths. Battle was joined and we prevailed. We gathered the papers, written in a language that we didn’t recognize and placed them in the pack Liana had acquired for Cinder. We hope to find someone who can translate them. Scrawled on the wall though was a message, or prophecy in dwarven that said: When the Lion is Broken The Song Becomes Silence The Tree of Quests Shall be Restored We don’t know what it meant but maybe there is someone out there, or in here, who can explain it. We left that room and found the entrance to the mine, giving us a true understanding of our location. As we followed the hallway around we found our three humanoids seemingly preparing to take their respite for the day. Udoroth tried to listen in but the only thing he really understood was something about their boss being displeased. We attempted to parley but that went badly and before we knew it the “human” transformed into a Half-Dragon and breathed fire on myself and the dragonborn paladin. Again we battled, I had to call for Freya’s aid several times in our fight with the monster. Liana took out the smaller creatures, which turned out to be more kobolds while we nearly lost Krolan to the beast. Eventually Uduroth slew the half breed. We searched them and found little except for a greatsword that the big dragonborn took and an amulet of disguise that I will keep. I don’t know if it will serve me well or not but I know that I wouldn’t abuse it. Continuing our search we found a huge room with three sleeping creatures in it. Bits of flame rolled out from their bodies. We didn’t recognize them so we left them sleeping and moved into another room which was not the best place to find ourselves as we stumbled across a Red Dragon Wyrmling. Of course we woke the creature because stealth is not my strong suit. Udoroth attempted to speak with it but it luckily ignored us until Krolan tried to take off. This brought the dragon over to us. Our Paladin soothed the dragon by portraying us as slaves while we cowered. It revealed that it is the child of Ith-Tinith to the east, that the half-dragons tend to fight a lot, that the Great Red is having trouble with the dwarves and by the lack of reaction to Udoroth there must be dragonborn in their service as well. Once we were safely past the dragon after it returned to lay on it’s treasure pile we went back to the secret entrance and left. The mine is going to be more work to clear than we can do alone, a magic user would be a great asset in that regard. Back in the forest we spent the night to rest before we headed for Great Scale Village needing to complete business there telling the Do’kal of what we learned and then heading to the Fort to warn them and recruit some help. Along the way we were shaken by the plodding of feet and the swaying of trees. Fearing that this was the Giant Half-Dragon from before we hid. What appeared was an elk the size of Fort Providence with a gargantuan Angel like being astride it. The elk had three eyes and wore a helm that emitted light while the angel was clad in gold with a golden mace. I attempted to speak with the being who turned to me with white eyes and said “RUN”, not with words but telepathically. I told my companions to do just that. We ran as a bright glow appeared behind us and I felt energized and refreshed. I ran with a vigor not known since my childhood and a speed that no dwarf has ever known. Not wanting to lead it to there we angled south a bit to pass between Great Scale Village and Fort Providence. We soon lost it and wondered if it had continued on the previous route. So, we rushed back to the village, only to find that there was no sign of the creature. We were still refreshed despite our run. We explained all that happened to Do’Kal who was not really happy about us going to the mine as he is concerned about us bringing the dragons to their home. He thought I was crazy about the giant until one of the runners appeared with the same tale. He was both pleased and not by he news as one of his people were still following it he let the matter lie until more was learned. At this point I approached him on a matter urgent to all of the settlers in the region. Krolan, Liana and myself have spent a considerable amount of time assisting in the repair, upgrading and training of the village and it’s warriors. We have brought new tools and several items to the village along with defending it from several threats. I asked him to allow the settlers and adventurers moving into this region to be allowed to rest, recover, train and share the news of the region in Great Scale Village. Our people would provide aid and protection along with trade and new technology to his people as they moved through. He agreed with my request, I assume pleased by our work here. From this day forth the settlers and adventurers from Sanctus would have a home in Great Scale Village. We thanked him for his generosity and took a nights rest before heading to Fort Providence to share the news. We have more work to do and must recruit some assistance in the next stage of our still unfinished mission. After a night’s contemplation of our encounter with the winged giant I feel that this being is on our side. Maybe he was warning us of the giant half-dragon or some other fiend. Perhaps we can find this being again and enter into some sort of relationship. Time will tell. Much has happened since coming to this land, I am glad that I have. 5/11/2018 0 Comments The Search for the Metallic DragonBy Sigrunn (Adam F.)As I noted before, Krolan and I were scheduled to search for the metallic dragon he had spotted in the swamp some time ago. We set off yesterday for Fort Providence with that goal in mind, the Paladin Cael deciding to join us. Arriving at the fort I dropped off my report on the temple journey and we began to recruit a few more people to our cause. We managed to find newcomer to the region, a blue Dragonborn Barbarian named Adrex and a rather shady Tiefling Fighter named Cesare. The Tiefling spat every time someone mentioned the Bard Heykitd, which is odd as he is universally loved in this region.
With our new companions we ventured into the west towards where Krolan and his allies had previously encountered the Dragon. It was a rather dull morning until Adrex and I began to hear beings chatting in the Draconic language all around us. It was crude and about simple things so we chose to investigate. We discovered that the birds and other wild animals in the area were speaking the language but without a druid to ask we were unable to determine the cause for this and began to move on. Suddenly a Manticore crashed to the ground before us, severely wounded from what we could tell. We moved in on the monster and despite Cesare’s attempts to grapple with it we managed to kill the beast and harvest several parts for Vecca. Afterwards we drug the bloody carcass to a nearby clearing in hopes to attract the dragon, assuming that was what had attacked it. No dragon appeared but an elderly woman came running from the woods chased by what we knew to be Bullywogs. We moved to defend the woman and swiftly lay into her foes. We managed to kill four of them before the last managed to flee. The lady was most grateful for our assistance and we offered to escort her home in case more danger appeared. She led us to a giant tree that Krolan knew to be called The Bifurcated Tree where she took us underneath the tree through a large opening beneath the roots. The woman was dressed in a bronze cloak and the cave was filled with knick-knacks and rough furniture. In one corner lay a pile of coins and gems, a dragon horde for certain. We them began our parley with the dragon in woman form about the region, and our plans. We shared jokes and our new Barbarian friend played her a song on his instrument that pleased her as well. We then got down to business and raised the spectre of the Red Dragon, things became interesting at that point. She had a story to tell. Her name was Cinadad and she was in hiding from the red whom she named, Ith-Tinith. Ith-Tinith had murdered her husband and holds her daughter Shiviny the Young One hostage. She told us that the Dragon Man, who we saw along the Copper Hills, is one of his generals and not the only one of his kind. We asked about the Kobolds and Knolls serving Ith-Tinith. She said that Kobolds serve him, but he is a zionist and would not have Gnolls serving him. This of course raises a number of questions about what is actually going on to the east and north, especially once you add in the knowledge of the drow and giants working together somehow. We questioned her about the being that Krolan witnessed slicing a giant in half. She called him Goshu. She spoke of The Wingless one, or Wingless Terror that fell in the north before the land of Goshu, killed by the Greater Giants. I was a bit confused by this and what it meant to our questions but all of this may tie together with everything else that lies upon the plains to the north. She refused to aid us in our quest to rid this land of the Red Dragon, calling us foolish for considering attacking him. Regardless, we will have to at some point to ensure the safety of the settlers. Cael and Krolan retrieved the carcass of the Manticore and made an offering to her of it but it did not sway her at all. She transformed into her natural form, a beautiful creature of gleaming bronze and telling us that she was tired. She ate the corpse and we made our goodbye’s. She gave us leave to return and a password to enter her home which for everyone’s safety, her’s included, that I will not share. We decided to return to Fort Providence at this juncture. Half the day was gone and the purpose for our mission was as accomplished as possible. When crossing the river a few miles southwest of the fort we were attacked. Cesare tried leaping the water and failed to clear it. As she was getting up something pulled her under and began to swim upstream. We engaged the invisible monster, firing arrows and making attempts to pull her out of the creature’s grip. Adrex proved most adept at this with his strength, though he also used his lightning breath causing severe damage to our companion and his attacker. The Barbarian finally managed to deliver a killing blow and we rescued the fighter. We don’t know what the creature was but we Cael found the monster’s lair and discovered a fair amount of loot, indicating the beast had been here for a long time. We returned to the fort and divided the spoils when Sinadad (the Bronze Dragon) in human form appeared. She apparently visits the region regularly. She helped us to identify some of the items discovered as magical and tell us of their properties. We are now bedded down at Heykitds visiting with the Qirens who are minding the place for the Great Bard while he takes care of business in Sanctus. They seem to be good people, and the young ranger plays a mean tune on her bagpipes. I think I will stay here until Krolan and I head back to gather Liana and take another look at the copper mine, though armed with this new information we will have to be cautious. 5/10/2018 0 Comments A Sunken Citadelby Alistaud (Sarah C.)I Alistaud arrived in Verloren today. As the boat approached the harbor a small town became visible on the horizon. This town of Verloren is one of many Candini trading company's far flung outposts. The town proper is surrounded by solidly built wooden stockade. We were welcomed at the docks by a throng of trades people and villagers eager to board the ship. The once bustling trading outposts was a mere shell of its former glory. It had the appearance of a ghost town there were clearly more people leaving Verloren then entering.
I happened to be traveling with a pleasant young halfling by name of Sauliwag. He hailed from Summerport. Through some unknown misfortune he decided that Verloren needed his help. Not knowing anyone else in town we decided to head to the local tavern. The place was nearly empty the soul patron was sitting at the bar. We introduced ourselves to this very large orcish looking adventurer by the name of Nox. He told us a tale of a sunken citadel over run with goblins. A tale of a shadowy fruit salesmen and two lost adventures. I had heard these tall tales told in more places than I can count. I am a bounty hunter so I have little care for the creatures of the world. I listened intently hoping to catch a familiar name someone to bring in a new bounty. Nothing struck a chord, I was half listening when this Nox fellow presented a large dragon shaped key. I snapped back to attention. Sualiwag and I were now enthralled by his tale. Nox announced his intention to open a great dragon door in the citadel. He asked if we'd like to join him. Of course we jumped at the chance to join him on the quest. We wasted no time and were soon off on foot. Along the way Nox said the citadel was taken over by a group of kobolds. The kobolds were somewhat friendly to him because he aided them in the past. We walked several miles west of town on the main road. At this point a small foot path headed off in a northwesterly direction. We followed the trail until we came to a small house. This house was familiar to Nox and occupied by a local trader named Kelar. After a long days travel we decided to rest for the night at Kelar's home. Something appeared out of place. On further inspection the home was completely empty. It appeared that Kelar had folded up shop and left quite a long time ago. The only remnants of of his life work was a dirty floor and a hobble covered in cobwebs. We thoroughly inspected the empty home and determined it would be a good place to rest for the night. Sualiwag ever resourceful cooked up some fine tasting stew. I was most grateful to this kind hearted half man. We split the watch for the night and bedded down. The first two watches of the night were uneventful. I was on the last watch when I heard shuffling outside along the road. Looking out the window, I noticed that there a group of 3 Kobolds approaching the house. Sensing possible danger, I woke my fellow adventurers. We took up stations at the door and windows. Weapons made ready, we waited for the kobolds. Not knowing if these creatures were friend or foe we weren't going to take any chances. They came to the door and tried to push it open. We exchanged harsh words asking what was their business with Keller. They said he had left long ago and it was their house now. Finally a kobold of reasonable intelect named Lasen interseeded. She asked to approach and speak for her small hunting party. We decided it wasn’t worth the effort to quarrel with these creatures. Sualiwag cheerful as ever welcomed them in. He cleverly watered down the meger bits of leftover stew and presented it as a grand soup. His simple gesture opened an opportunity to develop a friendship with the Kobolds. Nox fired off several questions. Inquiring about Ustral (the queen) and Kobald named Meepo (the dragon keeper). Lassen's ears perked up at the mention of Ustral but a frown set upon her face when he uttered Meepo. They decided to stay with us till the early morning. Lasen offered to escort us to the kobold camp. Approaching the camp we discovered that the Kobolds clearly were no longer living in the citadel. They had taken up refuge deep inside the forest. Nox had previous encounters with these Kobolds and desired to see Ustral their leader. We approached the camp cautiously and by all indication there were between 20 to 25 huts. The Kobolds seemed to be living in rough hewn shelters of sticks, twigs, grass and leaves. Nox asked for an audience with Ustral. The head guard agreed but told us we would have to wait for her to awake. When Ustral awoke we were escorted to her hut. This one was the same rough construction but somewhat larger and maybe a bit grander by Kobold standards. Ustral emerged from her hut aided with a long staff. She eyed Nox and shouted out, I know you you're the one that lost Kaltrix. Nox clearly embarrassed began to question her on many topics. He asked to Ustral why she and had the Kobolds had fled? She said the citadel was basically left open and empty after a dragon escaped. She, added there is talk of some underworld presence that had come to claim certain areas. His next question was about where the goblins are? The third question was about a trader called Bellak the grower and seller of the forbidden fruit. The last ones was an inquiry about some lost adventurers. Ustral had no new information beyond what Nox already knew. She had fled the same day his adventuring team left for Sanctus. According to Nox much had changed in the 7 months since he had last ventured there. With the blessing of Ustral we decided it was time to go. The leader of the guard Zarshed was ordered to escort us to the citadel. Heading in a northwest direction we came upon a large ravine. This is where Zarshed parted company clearly scared to venture further. There was a thick rope hanging from a large tree. It that allowed us to descend into the river gorge. A second rope hung on the other side of the gorge allowing us to ascend. We followed along a hunting trail about a mile until we came to a large watchtower. The ruin was abandoned long ago. It was the landmark Nox was looking for. As we approached the tower we noticed that it sat on side of a large seemingly bottomless gorge. We walked along the edge of the gorge for nearly a mile until we came to a stone pillar. The stone pillar marked the beginning of a large stairwell down into the gorge. Although the stairwell collapsed eons ago there was a rope tethered to it. We descended the rope until we reached a large landing. Once on the landing we descended 2 dozen flights of stairs until we reached the opening gate of the citadel. The entrance to the citadel was indeed left open. It appeared there was a large pit trap at the opening. The trap was sprung and covered over with large planks. Nox embarrassed, admitted the trap had been activated the last time he visited the citadel. We ventured in determined to locate the dragon door. The first door on the left opened into a long hallway. At the opposite end of the hall we came to another large door. The second door had a huge dragon carving over the archway. This must be the dragon door. Nox produced a dragon key he gained as a reward from the Kobolds. With a click of the lock the door opened as did we peered inside. A long hallway lay in front of us. This hallway had a dozen niches carved into the stone walls. The last niche on the right contained a glowing crystal orb. Sualiwag decided to pocket the orbs. When he lifted it I was suddenly confronted by the feeling of something fiendish or undead. We search the left niche at the end of the Hall. Although I could detect the presence of a fiend he was not visible. We called out and tried to make contact. You there, we know your present. If you don't reveal yourself now, we will bring you to your end. The fiend replied back, there is no cause for alarm. He stated he was locked in this room. The fiend added I wish to go on my way, there is no need to fight. We determined he wasn’t a threat but I maintained a watchful presence on him. At the end of this grand Hall there was another doorway. We successfully forced open the door. This doorway opened into a chamber. The interior of the chamber was empty except for a large red marble dragon statue and a large stone sarcophagus. Determined to open the tomb my fellow paladin and I pushed with brute strength. We were able to push the lid open. We peered inside, a large dead creature with the robes of a priest was contained within the sarcophagus. No sooner did we open it when that sense of the undead struck me. I knew this creature was my enemy. The huge vampire priest rose and attacked. Sualiwg stood away from the action and cast a spell aiding Nox and I. The creature arose and attacked. His second strike grazed my shoulder. Nox and I immediately struck back. I used my pike and Nox swung his sword and we quickly overwhelmed the beast. Striking several blows we achieved a overkill leaving him in a new state of dead, deader, deadest, deathness. The beast was vanquished and sent home for the judgement of his gods. We proceeded to inspect the room, searching for any treasure. With further investigation of the tomb, brushing away centuries of dust revealed a inscription. It read “He who lay here do so with honor to protect what has passed to the beyond”. Detailed inspection of the sarcophagus revealed a false floor. Again, Nox and I using our combined strength and pulled up the false floor. Below there was a narrow chamber. The chamber that opened into a narrow tunnel no greater than 4' tall. We let Sualiwag go 1st as he was clearly the one best suited for these small spaces. He quickly scurried off. I entered next and crawled on hands and knees. I had a chuckle watching Nox trying to squeeze his rather large orcish ass through the passageway. The two large paladins followed this tiny half man. The tunnel continued for approximately 100 yards until it opened again into a another small chamber. We came to a trapdoor in the ceiling of the of the second chamber. Pushing the door open we came to what appeared to be a temple. This inner shrine contained more script that identified it as the burial place for a priest who's body had long since gone. We walked about the room and only detected the presence of that familiar fiend who followed us from the long Hall. I was inspecting the tomb and detected a loose mortar joint within a large stone wall. Nox used great force and all his strength to dislodge a stone. Then a large section of the wall appeared to move before him. A door in the wall opened and I was grateful for alternative exit. We were relieved to be out of the temple. During the walk back to the Kobold camp it was decided this tomb might be a good stronghold for Ustral to regain her Kingdom. We will return to clear the rest of the citadel. Until then, Ustral can secure a small place for the Kobold to return. We decided to head back to camp to collect our bounty. Once in camp we told Ustral about the Chamber and the security it would provide her. She thanked us, saying if we return again to aid her she would reward our efforts. 5/3/2018 0 Comments The Temple of GahaelynBy Sigrunn (Adam F.)I have been in Great Scale village now for nearly a week. Myself, Krolan and Liana have been here helping the Lizardfolk with rebuilding the village after the attack. Scaro has been hanging around, but after the mistake with the heart he isn’t allowed into the village. We had some visitors from Fort Providence including an old acquaintance of mine from Sanctus, a drow warlock named Sabal. He had arrived with a gnomish monk named Ado, and a pair of paladins a half-elf named Cael, and a tiefling called Syndar. The group was heading north to check on the Temple of Gahaelyn. The temple had been found a while back by a group of adventurers who were promptly run out of it by the denizens but this group was determined to give it a try. I offered my services as a healer and to keep an eye on Sabal. It was good that I did because he managed to steal the emblem from the shield of the paladin Cael. We headed north towards the temple when at some point a meteor flew over us and landed far to the west and caused quite the earthquake when it hit. We will have to send a group to investigate that soon, who knows what it will yield. We eventually reached the temple which upon examination I recognized as Sylvan, which made it ancient. Surprisingly Sabal recognized it from somewhere but couldn’t say where. Down into the temple we went, it was tilted at an odd angle at first but eventually we reached the base and more even ground. The temple actually split into three tunnels, two of which were dead ends and one that led to more tunnels. We encountered some writing on the wall, it was in Sylvan, which Cael read to state: The Golden Court shall be restored once the Oath of Knowledge is broken and the Obsidian Orb is lost. Not knowing what that meant we travelled on. We encountered a creature of unknown type, fought and killed it. It was guarding a golden bellpull. We left it alone and travelled further. We encountered wall writing, this one in goblin: The Golden Legion killed a blue dragon here. Again nothing we could understand. We roamed through more tunnels until we encountered two drow who were guarding some chests. Sabal went in to talk with them and all went well until they spotted the rest of us and we fought. Killed one then subdued the other. We interrogated the drow, and he spouted nonsense about Gahaelyn, the Golden Court, the Golden Legion as though we should know what they all were.He did expand up the dragon, calling it Margrundin the Fierce, the Stormbringer, the Sky Shadow, again as though we should know of it. We learned from the drow that they are paying tribute to the giants, who have access to the tunnels under the temple. We also learned that Gahaelyn is alive allegedly and building towards something. We dispatched the drow and hid them in the chests, which were full of rocks for the giants. On our way out we checked out the golden pull rope and had Cael climb up the chain. He discovered that it was a bell tower and tried to keep from ringing it but failed due to his weight alone. He managed to see a city from the tower, we assume a drow city as it was underground. We left the temple after that because we knew that there was a possibility of giants and more drow, not to mention more of the spider like creatures that we killed. I took three of the creatures legs for Vecca. Returning to the village two of the adventurers went their own ways while Cael stayed to study with Vecca. Sabal wants to return to the temple and I may join him again if my goddess wills it. Until then I will be in Great Scale Village until Krolan and I are scheduled to go looking for a metallic dragon in the swamp.I will drop this report off at Fort Providence then. |
