I have made landing in this new land at the direction of master. She has informed me that there may be knowledge in this land that is unknown to her and has sent me to learn of it. And along the way, collect the tribute she constantly craves. When I enter the town I am surprised to see one of my own. He introduces himself as Remeth Tearheart. He seems to be the commander of the garrison in this town. He escorts me through the streets, describing what is what. Where i can find the library, the blacksmith, the alchemist, and to my surprise a necromancer is mentioned, but quickly glossed over that. This character I must meet.
We come upon a grove in the center of town, Remeth tells me that this is the Druid’s Circle’s fountain, and that all the animals are welcome here. As he says that, a wolf walks up from the forests outside of town to drink. The magic of druids is a peculiar one, I must look into this more when I have the time. From there in the center of town, I can see a group of strange people enter the Alchemist shop, a gnome, an elf, and a silver brother walking in with dark pelts of some sort. I excuse myself from Remeth’s tour, thank him and make my way to the shop.
The outside of the shop reads "Stripped Ingredients" and I can see them through the window arguing with the shopkeeper. I listen in and as I do I can hear the shopkeeper exclaim that it was “a trade secret”. That is when I barge in the door, towering above the old man, he must have been scared of me, because right then in there he divulged the “secrets” to these adventurers. They must have been happy with the results because afterwards they invited me to join them on a mission to the west of town to seek some missing animals. I was happy to oblige.
On our first night out, these adventurers even trusted me to take the first watch. Very interesting. It was a good thing i did as well, I had heard footsteps coming towards us in the distance, I sprang to my feet and in the direction of the steps I created a bonfire in as far as I could to try and illuminate the area. It was a group of humans. They claim that they saw the fire and thought we were in distress. This I did not buy. I told them our business is our own and that they should move along….quickly. The druid did not like my attitude towards this people, but then he did not hear them say as they walked away that “we would have been an easy score if we were asleep”. I brush off the druid’s words as if they were words of a naive hatchling.
We continue in the morning until the sun reaches the center of the sky. It seems we have stumbled upon Kobold tracks. These lesser dragons, always irked me, thinking that they are our equals. They are just the left over blood splatters of Io that were too small to form true dragonborn. As we are discerning where this tracks lead, we are started by a hulking beast that tries to devour my new gnome friend. His name is Diamondshard and he amuses me greatly. The beast is tearing us apart, when I have a moment to calmly collect myself, I command the creature to escape. It does this but to my surprise, as it turns to run, it transforms into a human. The same human that tried to “help” our camp last night. He comes to his sense eventually and turns back into the monster we were fighting. We quickly fell the beast. He reverts back to his human form, and I notice a unique sash tied to his arm. I take the sash for myself and tie the sash in the same manner on my arm as well, this might come in handy eventually.
We continue following the trail of footprints we found and they lead us to a cave. The druid steps forward to volunteer to go investigate, as he can walk through this forest with less suspicion than the rest of us. He tells us that the cave is dark but traversable. We enter one by one and head down a hallway. As we progress, we come across an arch, with runes I am unable to transcribe. We decide to double back to a room with similar runes on the walls. Diamondshard says he can read the runes, but will need a moment to prepare. As he starts, down the narrow hallway 3 mummies come barreling towards us. As an instinct, I create a bonfire in the doorway to slow them down. But something interesting happened, they walked into the fire and stayed there. My silver brother guarded the door with vigor, not allowing the undead to pass. Eventually all three mummies burned up in the flames of my bonfire. As things settled down, we heard noise coming from down the hall “fight, fight, fight”. Then we noticed our druid friend was not with us. We rushed down the hall towards the commotion, in this room he seems to be in combat with six kobolds. I jump right into action. With intent to intimidate these lesser dragons, i spit acid on those closest to our druid. My act had failed and they decided to focus their attacks on me. I ducked and dodged and I was finally able to fell two of them. But when I do, I turn to notice a creature made of blood standing behind me. It was ducking in this hall so the monster had to be more than 4 meters tall. It looked at me and my silver brother and said “Your kin, are next.” then vanished into thin air.
After this event, it was pleasant to be able to return to town with no hiccups. But I did not tell the others until our return, that I have seen that creature from the cave before. His name, is the Crimson Surgeon.
