11/16/2017 0 Comments killing leatherheadby brea (becca w.) 16-17 hsTL;DR; we killed Leatherhead, then went back out into the bayou full of confidence and got sent high tailing back to the tavern by lizard folk.
On the 16th of high spring, our party ventured into the bayou to complete some unfinished business in some ruins. We had no idea where the ruins were but we set out anyways. I purchased Sanctonal’s last canoe, another party member... commandeered a canoe from his brother in-law. This was my first trip into the bayou and there were many specimen in the surrounding areas, including a giant alligator. I would have loved to study him in his natural habitat, however he was quite hostile— as many others had experienced as well. We had quite a toussle with the gator, named leatherhead affectionately by other adventurers. He nearly drowned our new companion but the party bravely did not give up when he let go and sank into the black waters. They dove into the waters, slaying the beast in his home. We returned to the tavern that same day with plenty meat on the bone which the innkeep smoked for us. Full of spirit on the 17th, we ventured back in to the bayou full force, not knowing where the ruins were again...We ventured straight into the bayou, past the gator's lair and avoiding the first turn to the right. We went on NE for one full day, then encountered another fork. We went on West rather than North, and after 3 hours we found a watering hole. We continued on for a time and encountered a group of 6 lizard folk. They, too, were hostile. They had rainbow scales and made shrill whistles, calling to their kin while one escaped away. It was peculiar call, starting low, then high and back to a medium pitch. I would be interested to talk to them, if I could prevent an immediate attack though I fear they may be beyond reason..

11/12/2017 0 Comments "Creatures of the far realm in a cave; approach with caution or meet your grave."by Tormund firehammer (Dan o.) 14-16 hsTL;DR: A party of new adventurers take on a quest for the hag of the west coast; discover a monument, giant buffalo, and a toxic waterfall. Related: Aredhel's recap | Noric's recap As my brothers and sister in arms have already shared, Team Diplomacy shared an adventure of valor and exploration today, the 16th of High Spring. I arrived in town on the 14th, and spent the following two days seeking information on the local smithy, and contacts from the smith's guild. I also sought to make contact with any clerics or temples linked to my deity, Njord. Njord is pretty great by the way, you should check him out. Finding the smithing activity in town to be...lacking, I drifted towards the nearest pub where I encountered a group of clerics, and ale. None had heard of Njord, but I quickly corrected that lapse. Apparently this crew are adherents to Sif and Set, but they seemed alright nonetheless. They spoke of an ongoing situation in the area regarding some miserable hag (hags?), and some lizards, and some territorial related madness (ye gods) but all I heard was an opportunity for adventure so I joined their party. Having spent most of my 35 years either in a temple or at the forge, the opportunity to explore a new land called strongly. They were accompanied by an elven ranger, Carric, and a human soldier, Kellen, both of whom seemed quite capable of holding their own. Being a party of three clerics up to this point, we needed people to heal so the more the merrier. Surely, these folk would prove invaluable in our quest to reclaim the lost staff of one of the local townsfolk. 11/12/2017 0 Comments Noric's first adventure in the swampby noric synphase (beau w.) 16-20 hsTL;DR: Strike a deal with the hag to eliminate a threat in a cave; party finds a monument and discovers a blighted creek/falls. Well hello everyone, I am Noric Synphase and boy do I have a story to tell you. It begins on the 16th day of Spring, with Aredel, Kellen, Carric, Tormund and myself all wanting to head out to explore the shipwreck to the West. The party was asleep when we were awoken just before dawn by a horrible blue skinned "Sea Creature" charging out of the ocean. We were graced by the "Gods" not to be harmed by it, but quickly dispatched this creature with expert skill and a bit of luck. As a warning to any other creatures in the area, we put his severed head on HIS own trident and proceeded Westward to the shipwreck. Meeting up with the Hag, we ask for the staff back, striking a deal. The deal was to eliminate a threat that is in a cave that is even farther West. Once we are done, we can get the staff back. With our expert negotiating skills, we struck the deal and ventured farther into the swamp and went searching for this cave. After a long day of avoiding some deadly birds and finding a monument, the party decides to search the surrounding area. Thank goodness we had a dwarf that could inspect the ruins and this structure could be way older than anything else in the area. The biggest thing of note was that the door leading into the ruins was sealed from the inside. That same day we find some large grazing “Cow” like creatures feasting on the hillside eating the grass and minding their own business. To the West of these creatures was a blighted creek flowing from Northwest to the South where it has a small waterfall about 30’ tall. While “I” was gathering firewood for the evening I was savagely attacked by a flying snake that almost killed me in one strike. Thank goodness I have a strong constitution or you may not be hearing this story from my lips. Quickly destroyed by the blast from a friendly cleric, I made it out alive. We rested for the evening, and during this rest, the huge “Cow like” creatures that weighed over 1,000 pounds each were savagely attacked in the middle of the night and one was carried off toward the blighted creek. By the way, we have no idea where this disease is originating from. Before we travel any further, we all decided to return to this tavern to tell you what we have found. You know, just in case we do not make it out alive once we travel back Westward to investigate this source of the blighted creek. I hope all of you enjoyed this story, for there is so much more than just a shipwreck to the West. A Hag that has a small contingent of blue skinned guards, a huge nest of flat beaked birds as large as a human to the West of that on a hillside, a sealed obelisk temple with a sealed door Northwest of that and finally a blighted creek a half of a mile to the west of the obelisk. Happy hunting!!!! 11/12/2017 0 Comments diplomacy & solutionsby aredhel lethe (Eve a) 16-20 hsTL;DR: Made a bargain with the sea hag, found an obelisk, discovered hills and giant cow herd to the west, found Tainted Falls Kellen, Aredhel, Carric, Tormund, Noric go out on adventure -- had two elves and three clerics! Saw predator bird in the forest. Keep going. Six birds three nests. Rest for night -- split watch between the two elves -- my watch right before it ends there's a slippery blue devil out to sea, I wake everyone, we wreck it without taking any damage (I crit it for 19 damage in one hit). Slippery blue devil head impaled on trident on beach past birds facing sea right before dawn of the 17th - before terrain shifts to southern forest. I took 31 of its teeth -- they're sharp like sharks. Parlayed with the hag, Molly Bonecrusher, who has the staff. We saw it and she wanted to see our holy relics so we lit stuff up with thaumaturgy to pretend... She wanted my holy symbol brain piece of a saint in exchange for the staff -- decided to kill something for her instead creatures of the far realm live in the cave approach carefully or it will be our grave. Multiple hearts? Multiple bodies? She didn't step on the beach... we move on Dozen big birds nesting on shore - have to go into forest. Pair of two feathered lizards - pair of sorel - had to go maybe a half mile on our turn to by pass birds. Obelisk half mile in - near draw - very visible from shore because on foothill roll a few hundred feet above sea level - arched recess door is more of a slab pushed up and sealed from inside where two people would be able to walk comfortably through it -- sunken partially into earth 7 feet seen of maybe 15 feet - construction predates everything we would know - made from huge slabs - blunt and direct ----- not Elven - base built around spire -- mortared in - some stress fissures in the center of top of the base - obelisk and base same age. Dwarven marker etched on the east side of the door. Lots of large herd animals bigger than any we've seen a significant distance north of the obelisk - rolling hills then mountains in the distance. 11/12/2017 0 Comments kobolds, goblins & a baby white dragonby eilis gilrin (vera D.)TL;DR; Party searches for two lost halflings in a Verloren chasm and instead find a citadel of kobolds whose baby white dragon was stolen by the goblins (who live next door). The party agrees to return the dragon but instead sends the dragon back to the kobolds' throne room. Since we only fulfill half the deal, we get one of three treasures -- we get a key we've been hoping opens a stone door with a dragon's symbol on it. Calkryx the white dragon is still loose and the mystery of the goblin fruit and halflings is unresolved. Dear Ayten, Brother, after recovering Astrid's body, I decided to join Nox and some friends of his to find a couple missing adventurer's who had left Verloren to find some magical fruit in a chasm northeast of town. Long story short, we found a sunken citadel in the chasm that was inhabited by kobolds, led by a Queen Eusdraiel. The kobolds had lost a white baby dragon (they had stolen the poor beast as a dragon egg and kept it in captivity until the goblins stole it). Before finding Meepo, the dragon's keeper, we had found a stone door with a dragon's symbol and keyhold. When we were talking to Eusdraiel, we noticed a key was hanging behind her throne. Since they wanted their dragon back, we offered to return the dragon in exchange for one of the three treasures (the key, potions, or scrolls). She agreed and shared with us some information: the goblins are led by a goblin named Belick and that the fruit the lost halflings were looking for is a goblin delicacy favored for its magical properties. Upon entering the goblins' stronghold, we found a cold door with writing "Rebuke the dead to open the door" and a fountain with writing telling us that fire was the only way to make it flow again. Casting fire bolt and sacred flame did nothing to ignite the fountain and the cold door would not open. We eventually found the white dragon, Calkryx, who spurned us. We ultimately gave Calkryx a map back to the kobold throne room in exchange for not killing us and yes, we were sort of deceiving everyone at this point. In a way we were returning the dragon to its captors - just not securely. We returned to the throne room to find Eusdraiel sending her troops to capture Calkryx. She said we fulfilled half of our promsie and gave us the key. Rather than deal with the dragon and goblins, we decided to head back home and rest up. Going back to the dragon room is another adventure for another day. |
