12/10/2017 0 Comments Escobar, the Fist, and Undeadby Eilis Gilrin (vera d.) 10 Spring fellTL;DR: Eilis Gilrin, the moon elf paladin, leaves New Cadeni and finds herself on the frozen island of Summerport. She joins a party to exterminate undead, who befriend a wererat, Genji, who works for The Fist. Plus, they accidentally kill his favorite pet, Escobar. Dear Ayten, Brother, I thought I was heading straight back to Black River Island to join The Shield's quest in securing the bayou, but my ship took a detour to Summerport (more like Winterport, as it is a frozen tundra). I followed Captain Faladrin to the Thieve's Tankard for a drink. A lizard man named Salazar approached me and asked if I would be interested in joining his party to search for werewolves on the island. He also mentioned there are undead on this island. Ever since Astrid died at the hands of unholy zombies, I have been driven to avenge her death by ridding this world of all undead. So I pledged my support in this campaign. Northeast of the Tankard is a 500 ft tall obsidian obelisk, as black and shiny as Eclipse and Aqmar, our family's long swords. Salazar said we needed to investigate a house north of the obelisk; it was easy to identify as it has a green door with dwarven runes carved into it. Kresh, a dwarven fighter, deciphered it as "Safe house," but she couldn't open the door. Not satisfied with just trying the front door, I marched to the back and found the rear door to a kitchen unlocked.

12/10/2017 0 Comments Salazar's reportby salazar (Paul B.) 10 spring fellTL;DR: Salazar and company explore the dwarven safehouse, meet a wererat and arrange for a meeting with The Fist, an anti-slaving faction. Eilis's Recap The day started as normal, everyone is gathered on the main floor, eating breakfast, getting ready for the day. Bryn comes in with Horus and they lead the Tankard in prayer. As he concludes Captain Falanden enters the tankard with new stock and a few new travellers. The captain asked use a favor, to build a dock so that it is easier for the Board and Associates to bring supplies into port. I will make sure that once other tasks are done we will get right on it. I see a new face in the tankard, it is an Elvish woman, she seems lost, but she also seems able bodied to help us wipe out the undead. Bryn and Kre$H join us at the table and inquire what needs to be done today. I inform them all that we need to investigate a building that Dwain was able to tell me was a safehouse, and if we do that, there is a wolf den near there we could also inspect. After that we could head east to slay the undead. It must have sounded good because they all get up and head for the door. As we go on our way we arrive at the obelisk. The dead bodies of the time travellers that arrived with us in this new Summerport are still lying there. I tell the others I will catch up to them soon and stay behind. I remember my agreement with the Kenku, human scalps will help our relations with them. I pull out my dagger and scalp the 5 corpses I can see, I know there are more in the area, I will have to come back later for the others. I put them in my pack and head on my way. 12/7/2017 0 Comments The Kenku & "Human Problem"by Mindartis Siannodel (Michael d.) 7 Spring FellTL:DR: Mindartis and company encounter kenku with great disdain for humans. I must find new living quarters soon. Quarion would laugh at me were he to see my current residence, but it is the only room available in this abominable place. The locals are diligently working to improve the town and furnish once abandoned structures after clearing them of the undead. After examining their woodworking “skills”, I do not have much hope something appropriate for myself will be livable anytime soon. At least I have my books to keep me company until then. I do miss decent food, though. I’d gladly pay a king’s ransom for a decent glass of miruvórë, but only got blank stares when I asked the innkeep. He was stupidly proud of a dish that he presented instead, apparently made out of snake meat. I didn’t touch it, unsure if he was trying to poison me or not. Salazar the giant lizardfolk was again recruiting people to head out and clear more of the town. He wanted to secure a path so he cou;d contact a local tribe of birdpeople he called the “Kenku”. From their description, I had initially thought they were related to the aarakocra, but now I’m not so sure. He did mention that one of the routes to the enclave was blocked by a giant wall of reanimates, which caught my attention. It sounded like these kenku have some kind of control over the undead. If so, this could be monumental to my work! I wouldn’t have to rely on these half-baked adventures to continue my studies anymore. I volunteered to join the party and was joined by a half-orc bard and a dwarven barbarian who seemed to have a long history with Salazar. Both dimwitted, but congenial enough. Two half-elves, another bard who seemed intent on “making friends with everyone” and a druid. I kept my distance from the overly-friendly bard, but the druid made for a pleasant traveling companion. I find the druidic magic quite interesting. He cast a protective ward over me that granted my skin bark-like properties, though seemed to have the side effect of creating leaves in my hair. Not perfect, but it helped tremendously. 12/7/2017 0 Comments The First Night in Summerportby Kohaku Ruim (Matt S.) 7 of Spring FellTL;DR: Kohaku travels from Black River Island to the frozen island of Summerport. He and fellow adventurers meet kenku and learn about werewolves. Kohaku is tormented by an inner thought. Salazar's Recap | Theobold's Recap | Mindartis's Recap
The borrowed staff clattered to the ground. Kohaku stood swaying, all his muscles and joints loose from shock. He felt weak, queasy, and colder than even the wind’s bitter chill could make him. After all this time, he’d found a link. A solid lead. He’d found someone with the mark of the black hand on their shoulder. He must have missed it in the dark. But why did it have to be him? His mother, whose staff he’d lost--we’ve been over this! he thought furiously to himself—his mother, the one who’d taught him about the gods he now served. His mother, who had only wanted to help the sick and wounded. His mother, dead and buried, a black hand bruised into her shoulder. He’d tracked all over Sanctus, he’d searched at the Black River (THERE IS MORE THERE THAN MEETS THE EYE, the voice of his gods thundered in his mind), and his quest had taken him here, to the frozen town of Summerport. Why did it have to be him? 12/7/2017 0 Comments open Letter regarding the kenkuby theobold peacekeeper (7 spring fell)TL:DR: Detail report of the Kenku. Humans Beware.
High Herald Lotar, In pursuing my goal of meeting the races of the new world, and attempting to establish ambassadorial relationships with these new factions, I have decided to temporarily travel to the new harbor of Summerport to investigate the city there to assess which relationships with the native people could be beneficial. It has been a shock to learn of the frozen nature of a land rumored for its vibrant tropical climate. We have encountered a race known as the Kenku that we have already learned much about. I won’t bore you with details of the vicious and territorial roving bands of wolves, undead, and ice demons, but know that this land has danger all around.
